Yes, not money problems in the ususal sense, but that I have been spending WAY TOO MUCH MONEY and I knew it and didn't do anything about it. I got an email yesterday from my dad asking me to explain just why and how I spent over £600 in the last month, and £120 in just three days at one point. It's a lot of money in anyone's currency Money problems. Yes, I'm a student and I've earned the money from my part-time job but the money is supposed to pay for uni stuff. And also, I don't *really* know what I've spent it on. I do know I soent some on my friend's birthday, and visiting her, and things like that. And I payed for a piercing which would have appeared on the bank statement (£25). And I bought some new clothes for my friend's birthday and for general (£50 at one go, I was surprised when I got to the till and it came up as that because I hadn't realized it had come up to that price)... abd I bought some make up too. Also I've bought food (that I haven't even eaten haha). But I still don't quite see where I've spent £600. The stuff I've boguht hasn't even been expensive. Cheap shops and the like (been brought up well by my aunt Money problems ) It's just all added up Money problems

I'm just so angry with myself that I've spent so much, it's like a third of all the money I had in my bank account. I've only ever spent in a similar way to this before, when I was very depressed a couple of years ago, but it still wasn't this level of spending, and this time I don't have the excuse of depression because I haven't felt depressed. last time I was in hospital when he wanted to know what I'd spent the money on, and didn't believe me when I said I didn't know (which was a truthful answer, like this time round) and he searched my room without my knowledeg looking for drugs, which I have never even done Money problems. It hurt so much that he thought I was doing that Money problems but i suppose it would have been a logical thought for him. Money problems I'm afraid he'll think the same this time too and might not believe me with it happening again Money problems.

With the spending spree and not realizing where it's all going, is it possible you're bipolar and in a manic phase?

I hope your dad doesn't get too upset, but we parents tend to do that with kids and money. Money problems

idk, it has been suggested to me online, but I don't really show any other signs, and I think most ppl don't think I am, anyway... and I don';t want to be anyway... just one person thinks I might be, and I resist it all thre way through Money problems... but it is annoying and I KNOW i shuldnt have spent all the money and it makes me feel bad when many ppl can hardly afford food never mind anything else and here I am wasting it... and I still plan on spending more... for christmas and stuff... and I went to Oxfam the other day (a charity) and I got a booklet which explained unusal stuff to do for ppl, like use £30 and buy 6months of clean drinking water in Africa, and it made me think "hmm"... and I've been considering donating money to other charities too, and I should just remember I SHOULDNT DO IT an d if I do want donate money I shouldnt go arou d wasting it first... grrr

I do the same thing from time to time. I'll balance my checkbook and see how much I've spent on silly stuff and get all kinds of upset with myself. Try not to let it bother you too much. You earned that money and you have every right to spend it. We all do things with money that we shouldn't from time to time, but like I said, you earned it so it's totally within your rights.

I can totally relate. I tend to spend money then realize I spent it and go ok what did I spend it on. I haven't done that in awhile since my dad took over my financial stuff so that's good I have some accountablity. I do wish sometimes though that I could go and spend money without having to explain why I spent it. Are you mad at yourself because you spent the money or because you can't account for it?

I got an email from my dad today Money problems . He wrote:

</font><blockquote><div id="quote"><font class="small">Quote:</font>
I'm not impressed with your long awaited explanation of your spending. You make it sound like a minor oversight when it is in fact a massive overspend. At that rate you would have a personal annual expenditure of £7500.
How do you intend to replace the £600, it's a lot more than you'll earn at Asda over christmas. Don't even think about a student loan, if you have to resort to that then I will cease to pay for the accommodation, so when the money runs out, so will your education.
It may seem trivial to you but from here it looks like more of the irresponsible behaviour that got you into so much trouble in the past.
When I come to see you next week I will want to see evidence of better budgeting and some examples of your course work.

</div></font></blockquote><font class="post">

grr, I knew I was stupid to do it. And I don't even know why I did. When I look back at it, it's just totally unlike my ordinary behaviour. I wonder how I could do it. The 'irresponsible behaviour" thing is mainly the trouble my avoidancy gets me into, which I put things off for as long as possible/ too long if it looks like it will cause me worry and hassle.

Does anybody have any idea just how I am supposed to demonstrate "evidence of better budgeting"?

YES! Go to suzeorman.com she gives FREE advice, Charts, budget forms etc.. download what you need to show you are organized!

You can buy a book or two on proper money management, too, to show you mean business in getting this "in hand" to suit your dad.

Also, realize that for some ppl, spending gives an endorphin rush, which makes them feel better... of course it wears off until you buy again... and when the bills come in... good therapy should help balance all this out for you.. TAke care.
