I must say I am offended by this!!! I find it hard to get out of bed most days and very hard to go out because of panic attacks and paranoia. I havent eaten for a couple of days because I was simply too scared to go out and I didnt have the 'b*lls' to ask for assistance.

You are obviously extremely lucky that you have the 'freedom' and independance that some of us dont have, that doesnt mean you have the right to judge, condemn or criticise those are who less fortunate then yourself. Do you honestly think that people are too scared to go out of their own home for fun or attention?? Way uncool.

When I ride the bus, I sometimes wonder if people stare at the people who get off at the mental health center. Also I sometimes like to cry on the way home from work. I mean it gets tiring trying not to think about certain things. I have not had anyone bother me about crying on the bus. However, I can imagine that if someone rode home during the day instead of evening then the person might have a problem. I mean sometimes a person just doesn't want to deal with people after a hard therapy session, work day or school day. As for people with a severe mental disorder, just touching dirty money or being around a lot of people might keep them from getting out.
Of course some people take advantage of people. I know someone who rides the bus and has a social worker drive her to the grocery store. This bothers me a little. I mean I don't manage to get help much from any body. However, I may not know something about her which justifies her getting help in this area. My ex-boy friend gets my sister to drive him to the grocery store. He could do it just as well on the bus like I do. It would be harder for him because of his weight problem. So it really depends on the person, mental illness etc.
I just get a ride to work on Sundays because the bus doesn't run then. I also do my laundry at my sisters due to low income.

Look, I'm sorry for offending anyone, okay? I might as well shut up and not be proud of my achievements and not say anything when I've done something I'm proud of since I'm offending...I will never talk about ANYTHING I've achieved anymore since I offend people..No one ever wants to be happy for me or with me anyways. So I will not post on this thread anymore. I'll keep my mouth shut and won't share things I'm proud of anymore since obviously it doesn't matter.

Kim, people were only put off because you seemed to be saying that because you were able to do something to improve your life, that everyone else should be able to. No one was upset about you being able to do those things, just criticizing others for not being strong enough to handle them. I'm not saying that was your intent, and, speaking for myself, I'm not mad at you.

I know it feels bad when it seems like everyone's coming down on you, but I'm not, although I admit I was put off when I first replied. You should be proud of those things you achieve and improvements you make on your life.

As for offending people, I've done it, too. Like I said, it doesn't feel good when people come down on you (even if they misinterpreted what you said), but you can't let that stop you from speaking up what you feel. I've offended people more times than you know. Sometimes I'm glad to, because sometimes people need to be offended, for good changes to happen. The important thing is being true to yourself, even if others don't like it.

Stick around, ok? Us Jersey Girls are gonna take over the world! Why do some people with mental illness rely on others rather doing it themselves
