I just opened a letter from the Department of Health and Human Resources. It's states my medicaid coverage will be taken from me. If they do that, I'm sunk. I can't pay the 20% my Social Security Disability does not cover.

If I try to keep myself alive by continuing my medical care, I'll be homeless again due to trying to pay the bills. I am furious. It states I am expected to pay thousands on the bills before I am eligible. I am barely making it this way. I can't do it their way.

I'll call them on Monday. Please keep me in your good thoughts and prayers to remain as calm as possible until then. I don't need my panic and colitis to escalate along with everything else I have happening to me. I can feel the panic swirling along with despair, trying to gather momentum. I'm working so hard to remain upbeat these days. This is not good.

Oh Jan, but that's unbelievable! Surely they can't do that to you? You've no income and no way of earning an income: so how can they take the medicaid away? Write and complain to them and point out these facts. It's disgraceful if they do, and I hope they can give a darn good reason why. If they do take it away, then write to your representive (I'm not sure what you have there but here we have MPs who stand in Parliament: we would write to our local one who looks over our constituency).

Jan, I really hope you find a breakthrough in this. It's the last thing you need .

Jan....there is a good chance you will be suddenly qualified...upon notice that you intend to ask for a hearing. They usually take another look when that happens!!

You may also want to work on a letter to your local congressman (I work better when I am stressed........but not overwhelmed. I work with an agency that deals with clients w/ (MR/DD). Our clients have been affected by the spend down too........Where do they think these people will get all this $$$ and still survive......!!!!! Anyway, we have had a lot of help by going through our congressman as an advocate on our clients behalf. I also know of a family whose son is bipolar and recieved such a letter......(it sounds like your situation), they too contacted their congressman and everything was settled quickly and to their son's benefit. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{Jan}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} What reason did they give you for taking your medicaid?? Whether you're on straight SS or Disability, you're entitled to a hearing!

Get ALL your medical records together; copies of your own of EVERY SINGLE LITTLE THING you've been treated for both medical and phsycological!! If you have to, go to doctors even more often than you do. If for any reason they want to hospitalize you, GO! Don't forget to get the records of your stay and what you were treated for. Make your own file then make copies. If you need, I'll send you the money for that, including if your doctors charge you to make the copies for you. After you request a hearing and you receive all the questionaires to fill out, make sure and send a copy of your medical records. Every time you are seen for WHATEVER, get the record and add it to your file!

If they send you to see their doctors, GO and don't miss one single appointment. Yeah, they lie about their findings, but it's a requirement. They can turn you down for simply missing an appointment.

One thing you need to keep in mind; IF you get to the hearing, the judges are much more understanding than "the system." I'll be praying that you won't have to wait for the hearing, but if it works out that way, I'll be praying for just the right judge for you!

Jan, SS has client/patient advocates! Most times, these people are BETTER than lawyers. I fired my lawyer TWO weeks before my hearing. When I got in front of the judge, he told me there were would be NO HEARING because he had already made up his mind that I WAS disabled! He didn't put me through all the questions and crap. He just told me he was writing a letter to SS and some other paper work and I would be hearing from his office in a couple of weeks. It happened just like he said!

I may be the only one in here that is confident...positive...sure .. that you will get your insurance.....I am thinking its just a matter of gov BS and a few calls and lettrs and that appeal will, get it for you....In the meantime use the drug websites I think Pat knows them all and get free meds.....I am sooo sure I will bet my thread killing crown on it...so put a smile on that face and breathe deep till you hear the good news
