I am in need of therapy, and though I'm on a waiting list, I need some attention soon for I fear I may get worse. I in some senses have been getting worse, with something I don't even know what it is. It's a part of myself that I can't seem to deal with and I need to know where to turn to.

I will attempt to add a list of some issues I have been having.
- I am afraid to go to sleep at times because of breathing issues
- I wake up suddenly and frightened
- I at times vision family members and I freak out (alive or dead)
- I suddenly feel like I am having the world come in on me.
- I feel alone, even though I live with people who agitate my issues, and I can't talk with them about my issues.
- I shake at times

I'm having a difficult time thinking about these because they are not helping me think about them at this moment when I'm trying to stop the distress I feel. I know without help, I can't identify this and take care of it. Where do I go? What do I do?

Can you go to your regular doctor and have some tests, make sure you have no physical medical issues? The sleep/breathing issues and waking up suddenly and frightened and some of the other anxiety can have physical reasons behind it. And talking to a doctor might help you feel a little more secure and like you are doing something now, while you wait for a therapist?

Thank you for your comment.

I have actually attempted to see a doctor about the issue, and I was told in that doctor sort of way, that I'm crazy to think there's something wrong with my breathing. Even after mentioning that I stop on occasion when sleeping. I unfortunately can only go to the free clinic, and I feel that the doctor did not want to be there as it was (I sometimes wonder if they are there for court ordered community service), and treated me as if I were not so intelligent. I am debating on going back and seeing if I can find someone else who is willing to help. I am in the process of acquiring state assistance, but it's slow.

yes it would be good to go back again and try a differnt doctor. as for your symptoms, i am not a dr and cant diagnose, but it would seem that they all have anxiety in common so googling some anxiety reducing techniques may help you cope some until you are able to get an appointment.

HFDJ, I agree with kaliope--you might want to google and learn more about anxiety. Learning more about it might help you deal with it. Here we have an anxiety forum that you may want to read or even post in. I hope you can get in to see another doctor soon.

I am dealing with anxiety and to me it sounds like you have some similar symptoms. I also agree about seeing another doctor.
Thanks for this!

this may part of what's going on:
Anxiety disorder
Quote:
Anxiety, worry, and stress are all a part of most people's life today. But simply experiencing anxiety or stress in and of itself does not mean you need to get professional help or you have an anxiety disorder. In fact, anxiety is a necessary warning signal of a dangerous or difficult situation. Without anxiety, we would have no way of anticipating difficulties ahead and preparing for them.
Anxiety becomes a disorder when the symptoms become chronic and interfere with our daily lives and our ability to function. People suffering from chronic anxiety often report the following symptoms:
  • if this is part of what's going on excercise will help. seeing your reg. doc will help too.

The breathing problems during sleep can be sleep apnea. It is a tendency to pause in your breathing when sleeping and it can even happen if you are deeply relaxed while reclining. If you have it you may also tend to snore, or to sound like you are snoring (almost choking?) as your body tries to start its breathing up again. It is also something specific and medical you can ask your doctor about.
Thanks for this!
