As the end of the year approaches I have to look back and realise what a waste it's been. Who's with me?
I lost my job in February and have been unemployed since. I started looking for work right away, but after a couple of months my efforts just dropped off completely. I've been to two interviews all year. I did get my manual (stick) lessons so I could enhance my job prospects, but after that, it's been virtually nothing. I just leave the house, maybe look at some jobs on the internet, and/or go to forums like this one, download TV shows, etc. And that's about it. So apart from getting my manual license I haven't achieved anything this year. This year I had the advantage of having a personal planner on my iPad, which helped me organize my life and get things done whether I felt like it or not. Unfortunately said planner was destroyed in June and I haven't got round to sending it to the store to get fixed. I probably need the personal planner to tell me to do it. Catch 22 y'all. I look back at other years and I haven't achieved anything in those either, apart from having a job, or getting a job, which is something at least. My life's been an uneventful wasteland. This year's been probably the most uneventful of them all. |

I am so sorry that you feel that this last year was a waste---
I can get to that way some days as well- I can make it more than a year and say my life has been a waste-- but the thing that gets me out of that thinking (for me that is really a downer) but to think of the non-material things that I have accomplished IE Either did more self reflecting, did not let people stomp all over me all the time, spoke my mind more, and always another year with my boyfriend is progress with me with breaking cycles from my past, and the list can go on. I understand that the world spins on this currency called money- every where you do need it to survive- and it is sad and madding- but there is more to life than money I don't mean to sound like a cliche here but if we keep up on ourselves and keep trying that is always a good thing You got your manual liscense which IS something- you have continued to enjoy some small things in life- Down load things and go on forms- you have not totally given up which to me is a huge thing for a year that has been craptacular I also find it helpful if I make lists some times-- Oh geez lists-- I have a ton, I have some lists that I lose, and some lists that only 1 thing is crossed off- and i have some lists that I got all that stuff listed done---- It does depend on how demanding I am with some things when making the list-- but the point is -- Start small on the list of things to do/accomplish- things that you control and that you can realistically do- 1) Send in Ipod to get fix (Does it have a warranty I am assuming- then it could be postage all of that cost right?) I am not saying to make a New years resolution- I never look at these lists that way- and I am only mentioning it due to we are so close to the end of the year and to start a new one that I don't want that crap to be confused with this list idea of mine. Of Course only a suggestion. A personal organizer sounds great- I may look into something like that ![]() I do wish you a wonderful end of the year and I DO wish that this new year brings you more joy than the last ![]()

Its not a waste if you can learn from the experiences and think of them as a lesson.

I am going to get myself an iPod touch tomorrow, which has a personal organizer on it. I have found in the past that i am more likely to use an organizer if it's on a cool gadget cos it's an excuse to play with my toy. And i seriously got some things done when i last had such a gadget/organizer thing. To an extent that i seem uncapable of when i don't have one.
So i'm getting it tomorra. |
