Having grown up in an emotionally repressive home, I am a big believer in expressing my emotions, especially with people closest to me.

I also think we are all bigger than one comment or mistake.

I think that the only way we get into trouble is through our emotions! I know the only times I have ever gotten into trouble, I have been overly emotional.

At times if I read something and get aggravated or offended, I wait, read it a few more times at different times, and then I can either brush it off, or gather what I hope is a respectful rsponse with my own opinion, or realzie that what was said wasnt what was actually intended... Arnt mistakes a part of the growing process. I certainly beleive so. I agree with ya Fuzzy. It certainly doesnt define us as a person.

Well, there are even some philosophers who believe that being too emotional IS a trouble..I've neve runderstood where they set the line, but it's definitely possible to get in trouble cause of being emotional, particularly when the emotionality is negative (like anger or sadness, which are generally believed to be "inappropriate" feelings).

I'm glad to read that! I sure have made my share of mistakes. Most of them when I was emotional.....reacting to hurt or betrayal.

I don't know that they are "inappropriate" feelings. Feelings are neither right nor wrong and we have a right to our own feelings. It's how we ACT upon them that could be "inappropriate."

Perhaps when we let our own emotions dictate to us what we do or don't do is where we need to draw the line. That's when we need to STOP, THINK..... ACT upon, not "act out."
