So, good people,
For the first time I am feeling stable. So now what do I do? I am afraid if the bipolar symptoms can come back. IF I am staying on my medications, I should be ok, Right? Is there a chance that your symptoms can return evan if you are on medication? I don't know cause I have been in the whirlwind so long. Anyway, if anyone has any words of wisdom, I would appreciate it. Thank you and have a good day (night) noneedtoknow |

I am glad you are feeling stable noneedtoknow that is great. Remember to stay in the moment and not worry about something that has not happened. I would ask your Dr. what he thinks about your meds keeping you stable. I hope you have a good day too.

The symptoms are not some strange, evil force that takes you over, they may be part of your life. You going to get a cold next year (or the year after?). Of course. Yes, bipolar symptoms are worse than cold symptoms but you don't fret about the cold symptoms when you do get them, you deal with them the best you can and wait for them to get better. Should be same routine with any illness?
Learn your personal signs and what works best for you when you have a problem and work to make yourself more healthy (eating right, getting enough sleep, exercise, perhaps therapy, etc.) so you do not have relapses as "often", if at all.

Thank you for replying gma45 and Perna. A little reality check, I guess. Perna, you put this in a different way of looking at the bipolar than what I was. I guess I thought I would never have to deal with the symptoms again once I got stable on the meds. But it makes sense about the "illness" concept. Thank you so much for the insight. Hope you all have a good day.

Bad news? It never goes away and most likely, there will still be ups and downs.
Good news? It doesn't have to destroy you. One can get used to it and learn to cope better with their extreme emotions. It is a false view of recovery... you can never go back to the "normal". One is also affected by the episodes, I view it as mild trauma. But that does not mean you cannot live your life and be careful in case of episode coming.... so what if it does? One makes it through. You learn to manage and cope. There are good times still. And they make it worthy living.
