That annoys the crap out of me. One thing to spell poorly in email or casual "conversation". I try to always spell-check before I send an email, and check messages on forums with a spell check option.

(There isn't a spell check on these forums, is there? Am I just missing it?)

In any case I'm no snob about it. Sometimes people just want to get their idea across quickly and if they know you well they won't take the time to check. But this is a "professional" site and someone took the time to make that header graphic and didn't take half a second to proof read it (or let someone else double-check) before setting it out in front of the public. Ironic that is is a dictionary site as well! Very unprofessional.

I often see mistakes in ads in magazines... high end full color full page ads with something mispelled. These have to be EXPENSIVE ads to place, didn't they think it would be worth a quick check over before spending all that money and submitting the ad?

I do desktop publishing and I also notice software mistakes... font substitutions, cropping errors and software glitches that a professional should be aware of and know how to avoid. I know there is a time crunch in the publishing business, but these things are the image that you present to the public.

I'm guessing that they bought the 'dictonary' domain on purpose. This is an example of something that someone who NEEDS a dictionary might spell incorrectly, and I guess they were trying to make their site accessible to their target audience.

The other answer is that I have no idea.

We are ALL going to be a-ok!

I don't think people learn how to spell correctly anymore. That's another pet peeve of mine... the schools! What a joke they are nowadays. dictionary.com

Ya know? If you have something important to say, you should at least take the time to see that the point is clear and not make people guess. Aaaahhh!

They do buy alternative domains that have misspelled words.
