And it has never happened to me before.
After work, my bf and I went to the hookah lounge, like we do on many Saturdays after work. We were there for about 3 hours. During that time I slowly sipped about half a beer ( I wasn't in much of a drinking mood). We only ordered one bowl of shisha (we often order 2 within a 4-5 hour sitting), and had several little breaks from smoking, so I highly doubt that any of that is the cause. We stood up to pay and leave. We are friends with the owner so we were standing there chatting for a little over 5 minutes. I felt fine. Then I began to feel a little dizzy, in the back of my head. Like a minor head rush. Nothing concerning, just very mildly annoying. I thought it was maybe because I was starting to get tired. We began to walk out, my bf and our friend were deep in conversation and walking a few steps ahead of me. I walked maybe 10 feet from where we had stood talking, and all at once was overcome by dizziness. Within about a second and a half my vision had almost entirely gone dark and I staggered a few steps before falling to the ground. I had thrown my arm out to catch myself and keep my from faceplanting into a wall. The guys turn around and see me, rush over and help me over to a couch. This is where I lost consciousness. I remember our friend saying something about water, and I saw my bf standing there looking concerned and then both turned around. I thought I blinked and all of a sudden they had water and a cold damp rag and were fussing over me trying to figure out what happened. I now realize that I blacked out for maybe 30 seconds to a minute. I felt completely pale but at the same time felt my face beginning to flush with embarrassment because the other customers were staring and whispering to each other trying to figure out what was going on. We had planned on walking home but a friend of a friend volunteered to drive us the few blocks and my bf took me upstairs and made me take a cold shower then promptly put me in bed with water while he ran next door to get me a powerade and something to eat. Withing minutes I felt fine, but my shoulder is still sore from catching myself. Has this happened to anyone else? ![]() |

This sounds similar to some things I have experienced. I'd definately recommend consulting your general health care provider. I've had this happen when my blood sugar dropped, I've also had it when I fainted from low blood pressure and it was similar when I had a seizure, but it was different as well. But the feelings are similar.
It could be small, or it could be serious, please have this looked into. The dizziness as shows me a red flag. I have psychological blackouts as well, but they don't start with dizziness, only the medical ones for me. Please have yourself checked out, if nothing else but to rule out any medical conditions.

The trouble is that I can't afford a trip to a doctor. I don't even have a primary care doc. It scared the crap out of me last night, but I seem to be fine now. I have taken it easy all day. I know I can't assume that all is well... I just have no options right now.
My bf made me stay in bed for a long time and told me if I passed out again he would call an ambulance. I strictly told him no... I don't have that kind of money. ![]() |

Have you recently increased any psych meds? I had the same thing happen to me when my pdoc increased one of my meds (by quite a bit). Have you been tired lately? Do you eat meat? (i.e. iron intake?)
If it were me and I couldn't see a dr. I would just be cautious and see how things went. If it happens again, then i would find the money to see a dr. |

Maybe something "wrong" was added to that thing you were smoking. Just a thought.

I am not on any meds, whatsoever. The last time I was prescribed anything was about 6 years ago, when I was in high school. I have had periods of fatigue and periods of alertness, not just lately but as long as I can remember. There will be times that we are riding the bus on the way to work and I can't even hold my head up, so I lay my head on his shoulder and sleep for anywhere between 15 and 45 minutes. I don't work early or anything.. This bus leaves at 12:30. Sometimes after this I will get to work and I have noticed customers having to ask me to repeat myself because I am talking so fast and my words tend to get all squished together. I have meat maybe every other day, but I eat a pretty hearty serving whenever I do. Quote:

But my bf didn't have any problems, so that makes me wonder if that is even plausible. Thank you all for your input, by the way. It's nice to hear another perspective on it. |
