Has anyone Everbeen here?!?
I can't find a single review on this place except for when it was a hotel prior to 2008!!! I just got out of 30 days inpatient in SoCal & am checking this place out. Looks super beautiful, but all I could find were hotel reviews (where they said the place was creepy/haunted). Yay!!! Anyone actually been there??? Many thanks, HP |

It's been run by the Illinois Institute for Addiction Recovery since 2010; the IIAR has been around since 1979; the Abbey itself has been in operation since 2008:

Thank you, Perna for the links...I have been researching this facility, but had not read those.
However, I am still interested to see if anyone has any first-hand experiences there & what their thoughts and opinions are. I have yet to find any reviews from actual former clients, which is odd since it 's been a rehab for 3 years already .... And you KNOW how we psych people love to put our opinions everywhere!!! ![]() |

Here's a star system review but it doesn't have individual ones to back it up:
http://www.projectknow.com/listings/abbey-2304852554/ From what I read, it looks like Bettendorf, Iowa, where the Abbey is a hotspot of drug and alcohol problems/treatment. That the place is managed by the IIAR; one can't even get any reviews on it and "Proctor" really. I'm not sure that substance abuse rehab people do reviews as much? There are so many places. But it is odd that there are no reviews.

Thank you Perna, for all of your information.
I just got out of an in-patient facility in San Clemente for bi-polar, acute anxiety & major depressive disorder. It is so weird to be back in the "real world"!!! I have issues with compulsive spending and The Abbey is one of the only in-patient facilities in the nation that specifically treats this disorder, so that is my main reason for going there. I was told by their intake specialists that if I had not already been treated for my psych issues, I would not be a candidate for The Abbey, but since I had, I could be admitted. They said that they only admitted after prior treatment, do I guess I assumed that the patients w/drug & alcohol issues would have already had testament as well. Guess I have a few more questions for them!! Sincerely, HP |
