I bought my son a small bag of wholewheat oat biscuits and when he opened them he found an insect web and a whole bunch of eggs. I was going to return it to the store but they will just replace it and throw the contaminated one away. So I e-mailed the manufacturer. I received a very courteous call to say that their courier would collect it, send it away for testing to determine how this happened, and inform me of the test results. Of course they will also replace it.

All in all I was quite impressed with how seriously (and promptly) the manufacturer dealt with this.

cheque is how we spell it here in the UK.

Check is a pattern, like a check in Tartan cloth. It also means check as in "check mate" in chess. Its a british thing, we spell lots of words differently! lol

Congrats!! I did the same things once with C&H sugar, and they actually gave me a years supply at the time, which really came in handy as I had three small kids and a man with a huge appetite at the time, so I did lots of baking......

I sent back a tattered disposable diaper many years ago and although the did not replace it, they did send me a voucher.

Good grief .... I can't imagine anyone coming forth with a years supply in this country .. but there is no harm in hoping!

Sabrina,

That was the best idea to take it to the attention of the actual company rather than just returning it to the store. Hopefully the company will take your situation into consideration & try to control their products in the future.

I can relate to bugs being in food. I live in the Antelope Valley which is in the Mojave Desert....hotter than H%)). For some reason, there must be larva in many products & when they get hot, they hatch. My flour & anything that has flour in it usually ends up with weavles in it during the summer. My dog food is the worse. I buy the hard food along with some of the doggie bone treats. I have not used some of them for year & when I started cleaning up our house, I found bags that were filled with worms in the bottom of the bag. Then when I touched the food, it just crumbled inbetween my fingers. That was so grose. It doesn't pay to not clean my home......but I just didn't care for so long.

Thinking about it is really sickining.....realizing that the larva is always there even when the food is fresh......what in the world are my dogs really eating. Hopefully the acid in their stomach kills the larve when they eat the food fresh.....maybe that is where animals get worms from.

It is discusting to find food in that condition.....hope you get a good deal from the company....no food should leave the production in that condition.

I have just received a big box of goodies as replacement for my tiny little packet that was contaminated. My son is going to think it is Christmas. And I shall have to break my diet to join in.

It was really nice to receive this good service plus a wonderful letter of apology.

It also shows me that dealing with things like this constructively and with a good attitude produces positive results.

That's wonderful! Yes, most companies don't wish to lose customers, and will replace items, often giving you more than you lost. That was very nice of them. Product complaint

ah. thats wonderful.

That's just the thing though, you have to have a good attitude when dealing with businesses to get anywheres sometimes Product complaint

The thing is, noone or no business is infallible. S*** happens, and though it may be grosssss like in this case, a simple call will likely get the solution fixed, and hopefully direct them to find out what happened and correct it!

So much for the unlucky mother bug Product complaint
