My former employer sent me a message that his expensive wine opener is missing. I totally do not remember it and obviously did not steal it. Who would steal a fancy wine opener, when he had money in the kitchen. Hehas just told me to think harder where I put it because his next step is reporting it missing. I am damn sure he just wants to discredit me. A maid must be stealing, right. I cannot defend myself, since I am in Poland and he in Norway. It is a word against a word and his word is more important in Norway cos he works for their king. I sent a message to the Norwegian au pair agency, asking for help. This wine opener costs 40 US dollars. Would that make the Norwegian police do sth to me or would they use Polish police against me? I do not want the Norwegians to think I am a thief. I want to find another family in Norway, so I cannot be a criminal. I am both upset and angry. I could buy him this ****ing ****ing ****ing wine opener but I am not guilty.
I love Girl with the Pearl Earring and when I was in Norway, I imagined I am like her, you know, cleaning the house and living among people of a different religion. Now I was, like her, accused of stealing. |

That is an awfully tricky situation. And it really stinks that he is unwilling to accept what you say as the truth!
![]() If this behavior is entirely new and highly unusual...hopefully, he'll calm down soon and see the wine bottle opener right before his eyes in some strange spot. Either way, I hope that this mess is figured out soon and you aren't blamed & assumed guilty for stealing. You deserve to be treated better than this! * I hope that things settle down for you soon *

I wouldn't send him one red cent ... That would be admitting guilt.
I doubt seriously that there would be any legal consequences over a frickin' $40.00 wine opener ... He's just trying to be a bully so call him on his bluff ... Tell him you didn't take his frickin' wine opener and that if he wants to waste his time and money trying to make a case out of it, to go right ahead that you've got more important things to tend to. Those kinds of people make me so ![]() By the way, I quit a job over 50 cents one time ... I will not work for any asstwit that doesn't trust me ... It's the principal of the thing. |
