I know there are different kinds of pageants, and in fact, just read an article about pageants (although not specifically about children's pageants), but I find it offensive to have young girls compete against one another over beauty. There are the pageants that are more often publicized, where little girls wear makeup and fake eyelashes and wigs, in which many of the pageant mothers say it isn't wrong, it just "enhances" their beauty, and there's the more acceptable ones (but still wrong, IMO) where the girls wear minimal, if any, makeup, and wear their own hair.

I've seen a number of talk shows and other shows that have shown families spending thousands of dollars on these dresses for little girls, sometimes putting themselves in debt. And so many mothers say, "Oh, my daughter wanted to be in the pageants," and "She loves it!" when the child is too young to make those decisions. I don't care if your daughter wants to dress up and be in a pageant. You're the adult, and you're supposed to think about your child's future. Starting her down this road is not good.

And the prizes!!! Children winning cars and such! They won't be able to drive for years!!!! What the heck???

I do not like "beauty contests" and any like that, it certainly puts pressure on a girl, and sends wrong messages,if one doesn't win, she may go onto believe she isn't beautiful, developing self-esteem problems, and even eating disorders. . . you know all the ugly things that can mess up a young girl.
On the other hand, if she is a winner, her personality can then be effected, creating a stuck up,materialistic girl/young woman.
Just my feelings,
DE

If she wasn't guilty, I have a gut feeling she was involved in some sort of way.
The whole thing has made me very suspicious, pointing at the family, or some perverted close friend of Jon's parents.
So no one please do not get all defensive at me, this is only my feelings, and I am NOT saying any one particular person is guilty, sadly no one will probably ever know who killed her.
But whoever did, should rot in hell.

I think the brother did it - and the parents covered it up. It was sad about Mrs. Ramsey passing away, and certainly brought up lots of thougths about the whole sad sad sad death of JonBenet !

welllllllllll. i have always believed that the dad did it....something happened between the dad, the mom and the little girl and the dad lost it.

i agree that the death of the mother certainly brings up a lot of bad feelings about the little girl....

That's how I feel too.
Who knows, maybe they were involved with that, "one never knows, do one".

I honestly don't have any real feeling leaning toward a specific suspect in this case. I just hope justice is done, if not in this life, then the afterlife, if there is one.
