Zilch, nothing is written in stone. You need to try out different things in order to know what feels doable to you. That's what I mean about "shopping."

That's what I mean about "shopping." It WILL eventually be for the rest of your life. How do you know if you don't try different things? You've got more than plenty of time to settle on one thing.

How often have you heard of men being frustrated in their career because "dad wanted them to go into the family business"? It wasn't what they really wanted to do. You often hear of older people going back to college or changing majors because they decided that their first choice wasn't what they really wanted or they weren't suited for it.

Just think about what I've said. Keep an open mind. Do I even have any options left?

SeptemberMorn, you're probably right. I probably should keep my options open. I'm already so regretful now at 18 -- I can only imagine how regretful I would be much later in life if devoted my life to a job I didn't enjoy. I'll try to keep some flexibility in that area.

And thanks for the information, Jennie. I'm starting to think an IT job might be the way to go. I'll have to look into it a little more though, and try to find what I think suits me best. Again, thanks.

There should be no reason to tell any one that you are in therapy if you chose to not tell. There are clinics you can go to that charge on sliding fee basis through the county you live in. I don't know of any county in the US that doesn't have something available to help. As you are unemployed this help, and if needed medications will come free of charge to you. Please consider it, your family doesn't have to know right away. But you are young and have a long life ahead of you, I wish I had gone at your age and had been as smart about things as you seem to be... please seek a therapist it may be the best thing you can do for yourself...
Another thing keep coming back here (By the way welcome to PC) the support offered here is tremendous to say the least.. take care and am pleased to meet you. Linda

And I'll repeat... the mistakes you've made up until now are only SMALL lessons for the future. Don't regret them. USE them! Now, in your young life, you know what NOT to do later in life. These lessons will continue throughout your life. Don't regret them, USE them, ok? You'll figure out what works for YOU and what doesn't.

Something else I want to reinforce is, with your ability to read, write and understand the language, the world is at your feet! YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU SET YOUR MIND TO! Do I even have any options left?

Crying isn't a sign of weakness. It's a sign of having tried too hard to be strong for too long.
