and this smilie is supportive how?

somehow it doesn't follow that using the phrase "I'm with stupid" here on this site will be supportive to those in need of support. instead we are guessing that it will be dragged in to those lovely situations where folks need to use ignore instead of continuing typing and posting.

please rethink this smilie as it doesn't really fit the tone of the site you're striving for.

thanks for the space to air opinions.

sweetie both of us have been around these parts long enough to know that what some see as fun other DO NOT SEE AS FUN....and context is in the eye of the beholder.

not to be a fuddy duddy but after the super long threads of late and some behaviours on this board this year we really can't get behind a smilie just because it's fun for a few. we don't see that as providing support to the larger population.......instead we see it as a tool for a select few to use at inappropriate times when it is LEAST needed.

we know most adults can detect humour and fun but this site has shown time and time again that with mental disease and disorder all in all this site DOES NOT REPRESENT AN AVERAGE SEGMENT OF THE POPULATION!!! none of us would be here if we were merely average I'm with stupid smilie?

I'm thinking that smilie may not be meant to be supportive, but for social, silly purposes?
Like for example if someone was poking fun at themselves?
But if it were used in an insultive sense about another person, then I'd say it isn't supportive.
There are loads of smilies and other type of emoticons that I do not think they are all intended to be supportive, some are there for fun, that's how I take it, and I hope others feel the same way too, I'd hate for members to start using smilies for insultive purposes, that would negate the whole meaning of "smilies",eh?
Just my 2 cents.

having pounded these keys recently pointing out that we all come from such different life experiences.......i admit to being surprised when i saw the smilie. i wouldn't use it. heck, it doesn't even take a smilie for someone to feel that something is directed towards them............and, i've never held back from saying that the reason we're all here is that we're crazy..........

i see the potential for it being used in a less than joking manner. but, then that's me, i'm concerned for the quiet, the shy, the ones who don't get hugged and those who feel as if they don't matter here...............love, pat p.s. and just because i have a big mouth doesn't mean that i couldn't be hurt by that one...........xoxoxo

all it takes is ONE pissy moment and someone posts "i'm not...smilie.........and 3/4 of the members here will think it is about them.........

Fuzzy, I agree ... I have never ....ever (so help me ?) used a smiley to say something that I cannot say directly.

Smileys are fun to me ... I love them ... and I use them all the time.

I do hope I am not going to be hated for voicing my opinion here ........

But then I have to say it doesn't really take a smilie to irk someone... the I'm with stupid isn't my fav smilie...I don't know if I will even use it, but I have learned to never say never, so who knows...

I'll probably get eggs thrown at me but I don't see what all of the commotion is over one cute, little, innocent smiley guy. If somebody takes it the wrong way-they take it the wrong way, it's not the end of the world. It's only a smiley face! If this is being in anyway insensitive or flaming then I apologize and Mods/admin please feel free to delete me.

I'm with stupid smilie?

There will be some who find smilies offensive, and some who don't.
