Jan, don't you think this an issue to take before the school board first? I've fought the school system before. First step is to go to the teacher, then the principal, then the School Board and then the authorities. I kept getting sent back to go through the chain of command.

Children are growing and need to move at the middle school age. Every teacher workshop on middle school I attend emphasizes this. Being punished for moving at that age is unprofessional and cruel! I don't know, if I were a parent, that I would go thru the chain of command, since the principal seems oblivious to the band teacher's antics, or condones it. I'd shake them up by hitting hard and swift. Schools hate, I mean fear and loathe, legal issues, and since the band teacher is clearly in the wrong here, let 'em have it. If the media got hold of the situation, BOY!

i found out some more info on this teacher... apparently he made some racial slurs towards some of the hispanic children in the juinor high band..... i am going to report this too...
i agree going through the chain of command is the way to go... i would like to give the shcool a chance to fix things first you know what i mean

There is this wonderful saying: Patience is a Virtue......Or even good things come to those who wait.
I have some good /bad news. The band director was fired today.... good news...... the context in which he was fire for.....bad news..... it seems that he was looking at a girls back side and someone in the room caught on and started calling the girls name.. one the third time the band director heard her and turned around real fast... one of the guys in the class stood up and asked him if he was a child molestor or something? and the man says this..... i dont know why dont i moleste you and we can find out!!!! if this had been my child!!!!!!! we wont even go there!!!!!!! needless to say he is no longer employed with our school district

This is very upsetting, but not surprising TODAY. I have 2 young children and would never settle for anything LESS than the best regarding their education. Its a shame we can't not hold a public stoning. God Bless!

i hear ya on the public stoning.. my hubby said i would have had to bail him out of jail had it been our child he said that to... lol.. not that i blame him... it would have been more like if there was anything left for him to deal with after i got through with him.lol.....
tomi i hear ya on the principal and the school board members!!! sometimes i wonder where they come from and if the kids are the real reason they are in the positions they are in.... you know
