I try to keep the "My Mood" part of my profile updated every day that I log into Psych Central and in doing so I've noticed a trend. It seems as though I frequently mark my mood as "Don't Know". How can I not know what my mood is? I don't understand. I should say that while I show many Asperger's traits, I've never been formally diagnosed with anything. I do also experience episodes of depression but when I'm feeling that way I can clearly identify it. When I'm not feeling that way, my mood is "Don't Know"

Thoughts?

A mood is an emotional state. If you are not in any particular state, then having a mood about it is pretty hard Just drifting along, working on what's in front of you, noticing the ride but not feeling up/down about it is not something very definable?

Not knowing something is quite honorable; when you are learning something, you don't already know it. Do they have a "learning" mood? :-)

Identifying feelings is difficult for me, too, despite having worked on it for several years now. It's only partly because of upbringing, where feelings were neither okay nor discussed. Also, the feelings list here is quite limited.

Here's a longer list to go down and see if anything resonates:

What is wrong with not knowing? It is hard to fit yourself in these prepackaged ideas and labels because everyone is uniquely different and we are not all one size fits all, so to speak. Maybe you are in a time of contemplation or self discovery and you may not know at this particular moment but by not knowing you are moving closer and closer to knowing. Try not to dwell to much on the observation that you do not fit in the mood categories maybe its that the mood categories don't fit to you.

Because you don't know. I know I can go days without feeling. My T would describe this as being detached or frozen. Maybe you could ask your T what might be happening for you.
