Hey everybody this is my first post, i am just going a little nuts because of something that has been going on for about ten years now off and on. I want to tell my Tdoc about it but i wanted to talk to some people first.... So please please please tell me what you think this is ok? Ok. So i have this thing that is really dumb but please imagine how it would feel to have it ALL the time; it's very disruptive. Every few seconds or few minutes or few hours or whatever i have to stare at some point in space and hold my breath and say some little phrase to myself in my head until it feels right you know, except it never does... Anyway if anyone has had a similar experience i could really use your support right now before i scratch my brain out. Thanks a million !!!!

That sounds like a compulsive behavior. It's not really that unsual, actually - some people have to wash their hands all the time or arrange their stuff in a certain way, or have various routines that they feel compelled to follow. Yes, I can understand how it would get old to keep having to do that, but you are not alone. You might want to click on "quizzes" at the top of the page and try the OCD quiz on this site. There is more information about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder too - look under "disorders" or search for it on the internet. It's treatable too, with meds and/or therapy.

Good luck to you!
PLEASE help me figure something out...

yes it could be ocd. it is definitely not something you should be afraid to discuss with your doc. hope you can discuss it with him/her and get some answers at your next visit.

it DOES sound like OCD. I have OCD and do little weird things...like having to cross the street in a certain amount of time or i'm never gonna be happy again for the rest of my life. weird...huh? I also count syllables when people talk. Its exhausting. I wouldnt be afraid to speak to your therapist about it though...its a very common condition that responds well to medication and behavorial therapy.
welcome and good luck

Hi smud. It sure does sound like OCD.

I have it too, and I think if I don't do my odd little routines, something terrible will happen.

I have to click my teeth a certain number of times, count objects over and over, lay objects in the same order all the time...what else...I'm sure there are more, but not as many as I used to have. Mine used to be more severe than they are right now.

Hope you can get control of yours, it can drive you crazy sometimes. I think medication can help, not sure though.
