I'm an INFJ.
![]() I've done this for over a year now and I've really learnt a lot, about the different cognitive functions, the vibes that people of each type give off etc.

I am INTP. I can also be INFP, depending on the phrasing of the questions.
You have strong preference of Introversion over Extraversion (89%) You have distinct preference of Intuition over Sensing (62%) You have marginal or no preference of Thinking over Feeling (1%) You have slight preference of Perceiving over Judging (22%) |

It's funny that you "renewed" this thread. A week or two ago, T had me retake the test to see where I was, as she believes personality doesn't tend to change that drastically, just become more "middle ground" until a good balance is achieved.
I took it again, and received that same thing I have always gotten: INFJ. Everything was a moderate preference except the F which was a "distinct" preference. Lol, to all of the extroverts being on Facebook!

Reading this thread would make a person tend to think that introversion and mental health problems are correlated. I don't know whether that's true or not. Where are all the extroverts with mental health problems, though? Do they have their own version of Psych Central or are introverts more likely to take personality-typing tests? (Even if they are, this thread seems to be about 95%+ introverts.)
Do the MTBI types that are rarer feel more alone and find it harder to find people to connect with? I remember the first time I took the MTBI in a work seminar and found out that my type is only about 3% of the population in the US, I was not happy to hear that, but I felt like it explained some of my "feeling different" while I was growing up. |

Mine is the most common type, ISFJ, at 13% of the population (higher in women, lower in men). I still often feel like I don't fit in, possibly my perception.
This article has a few interesting things to say about supposed link between introversion and mental illness: https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog...ard-introverts Tend to agree the extroverts are probably out doing real life things though. ![]() |

It's good to keep in mind that the test simply measures your natural tendencies along a spectrum. The best way I can explain this is that even though I consider my right hand to be dominant, it doesn't mean I never use my left hand.
How strongly one is extroverted or introverted can make for a very different experience even among people who are classified with the same 4 letters. Therefore, it's not necessary that you must fit in just because 13% of the population has a similar personality to you. To those who fall on the "borderline" of a certain trait, this may indicate you don't have a strong preference for either J or P. Perhaps at work you are very organized with paperwork (J), but when it comes to taking a vacations, you don't care where you go or what you do - it's all spontaneous (P). The MBTI tests themselves are made so that they measure what % of questions you answered with a typical J or P response, but often scores can vary depending on which hypothetical setting you are thinking of when choosing an answer. So if you get different scores, that doesn't necessarily mean the test is broken. A lot of the times, there are both great strengths and weaknesses that can be associated with a strong preference type. So sometimes it is good to be able to juggle the best of both worlds.

ISTP for me....though when I took one of these tests a few years back I remember scoring extroverted.... although to be fair that's probably due to the fact that I was maybe around 12ish at that point, and I don't think personality is supposed to fully develop until early adulthood...

![]() I think personality can change drastically if you put in the effort, want to, are in that environment of the function you want to develop and make it consistent. I'm not sure on the exact meaning of middle ground, I agree with the jiste of that idea and kinda with balance. I'm about extremes though. If you master both ends of a spectrum, you can be everything in between. Instead of pretending and being "tactful" with others, you can be sincere and really understand. I think your T is using the test as a base for you to grow from. We can get lost so easily in our disorders. Hell, i've retyped this response 3 times, different explanations, due to my perfectionism problem, lol. Try the Jung Cognitive Function Test (basically what MBTI was "built upon) Jungian Cognitive Functions Test My INFJ GF (and is very much an INFJ), her result on the above , was literally "unknown" lol. Would be interesting to see if anyones Jung Cognitive function result is different from their MBTI. (MBTI = INTP. Jung = ENFP. My reflection and research - No doubt i'm an ENTP) |

She didn't know what to make of it either. We develop our functions over time though. I don't know how old you are Bumblebee, but my INFJ is in her early 20s, so her functions are still developing, so that could be the probably explaination for "unclear" hehe. Like I said though, at least from my perspective, I don't think MBTI should be viewed as the beginning of the end ![]() MBTI is a good STARTING PLACE though to help identify personality attributes and words to understand your behaviours and others ![]() @prefabsprout: Very welcome ![]() The Enneagram test is another useful personality test, and there does seem to be some correlation between it and MBTI. (for instance most INTPs type as 5). I've read that MBTI is inborn, but Enneagram is learned. (I personally think MBTI is social identity and Jung Congitive functions are closer to inborn) Free Enneagram Personality Test I'm ENTP type 8w7 *flex* lol |

I recommend reading about Jung and MBTI differences. There's Keirsey as well, and a few others i'm forgetting right now. Socionics is another one, a Russian version apparently. I personally will stay with Jung though, because he was the one who started this chain, and I understand ideas like he does (I believe he typed himself as an INXP) It's interesting you got E over I now though, that was the different in the MBTI result for me (that I agreed with), and I gotta say, I do believe deep down i'm more extrovert than introvert i've been in the last few years, that i've just learned to be an introvert, and saying that, how much of the world is learning to be/act like an introvert with the rise of the internet? (ENTPs are apparently the most introverted extroverts though, so that complicates things more, lol) Thought for food ![]() |

I've also read somewhere that ISFJ's are the most extroverted introverts. Wonder if there's a correlation between being opposite to ENTP.

I'll be honest though, I know exactly nothing about Sensing xD (Both my Se and Si are pretty low) I wonder if shadow functions play their role in this.

"Naturally social, an odd quality for Introverts, ISFJs utilize excellent memories not to retain data and trivia, but to remember people, and details about their lives. "
I think this is rather accurate for me. An introverted way to approach being social and interacting with people.

I think there is an error with the test. Part 8 and part 9 have the exact same questions (or was that just me?).
