LOL!!! Well not sharpest tool here either but well guess that means we are not alone hu? I do not have any answers for you as far as where you can go. I know here we have places that go on sliding scales as far as payments for counseling. I have avoided meds forever it seems so I am not one to advise you there either.
Glad your here. Hope someone else is able to help guide you.

Maybe try the local mental health assoc. for docs or therapists that provide services on a sliding scale. Also, sometimes a local university that is training psychologists will take on patients for no cost. The psychs-in-training are overseen by a psychiatrist. Any family members that can be a support?

Meds are very individual as far as your side effects. I'm on a lot for bipolar & I did put on weight (about 50 lbs) & I'm now trying to address that. I don't want to change the meds cuz they are the only ones that have worked for me. Keep us posted & good luck.--Suzy

Hello I hope you are getting some answers to your questions. A good plae to start is the local mental health (county agency). They usually have a low cost basis if not free fees. also I am going to give you 2 names of Pharmaceutical companies that help you with a Free Medication Program for the United States Free Medicine Program 1-800-921-0072 and Free Medicine Foundation 1-573-996-3333 ( you can make as high as 80,000 for this company). If you call them they will send you an application that your Dr fills out, and your medication should be free, they generally give 3 months to 1 years worth of medication at the time. I hope the best for you. If you can not find your county mental health agency you may want to call the Salvation Army in your area sometimes they have a wealth of information for what is available in the community. You may also want to go to the Jobs and Family Services in your County to see if you are entitled to benefits (foodstamps or monies). or a medical card. I hope the best for you take care Sincerely Soidhonia

Study this site and get as much detail as possible for your particular situation: http://www.dmhas.state.ct.us/

I would print out stuff to take with me wherever you're supposed to go and refer to if they try to give you the run-around?

Good luck!

Hi Anarchy,

So sorry you are having these problems but trust me, you're not alone!! Many of us here have these problems.
I have suffered from depression for many, many years. I was sent to a physchiatrist several years ago, just to make sure I wasn't crazy. LOL!!
Now, I am on two different depression meds and they are working better than any of the rest I have tried and I have tried several.
Meds will react differently to each individual, so it's a game of trying and seeing. You have to have patience. But, once they get it figured out, it's like night and day.
I agree, your local mental health department would be the first place to check out. They have alot of resources that they can use.
I know I didn't help you in any way but wanted you to know, you aren't alone in this journey they call life.
Take care,
Linda

wow..thanks for the advice everyone.im sorry about not getting back to the site and thanking you all sooner.i was lost in my own little world the last few days.seems the problems in my life just seem to be compounding and im getting more and more depressed as the days go by.BUTT,,i am still focused on getting some help for myself and i have convinced my self to not take NO for an answer or let anyone give me the run around when i do go for help.im not putting it off .JAN 1ST is my start date and i will go thru with it.i am reasearching all the local mental health programs and what ever catch,s my eye while searching.so jan 1st i will be on the road to who knows what..lol.i believe i have just about reached rock bottom but not totaly.i still have my girl/wife but i see that slipping away also.i have made up my mind to sit her down and talk to her tommorow and say i am sorry for being such a total burden to live with, and believe me i have been that and then some.i am shocked at how much i have put her thru and she still find the time to say i love you every night.so mabie out of the kindness of her great big heart she will see i am going to make the changes needed to become a better and healthy person ..im keeping my fingers crossed ..i know ,i have to do this for myself and no one else..CANT,i have to do it for the both of us.without her i am nothing.she has been my doc, friend, family and wife for 16 + years and she knows me like a bad book.so.i would just like to say thank you all for taking the time out of your life to reply to my cry for wolf.i am greatfull to you all and i will keep in contact with the board members.im sure i will have ?? about all of this..HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND THANKS AGAIN.
