So here's the deal: I recently moved a month ago and my chart was closed at my last psychiatrist clinic. I go to the income-based clinics because I have no insurance and I'm currently unemployed. Well, I went to make an appointment at a new clinic in my new city and the next available opening is June 2nd. I take Lamictal 300mg, Wellbutrin 75mg, and Seroquel 25mg. I have about 9 doses of Lamictal, 1 dose of Wellbutrin, and 20 doses of Seroquel left. I am seriously freaking out because I know there are risks of suddenly quitting these meds. What are my options? The woman I talked to at the clinic who made my appointments said my only option was going to the ER, which I don't mind doing but will that even work? Will they prescribe me enough meds to last me until June 2nd?

I would call and talk to the people at your last clinic (depending on how far you moved) and see if they can re-open your chart and prescribe until you get in to this clinic; they can call/check with this new clinic that you have the appointment, etc.?

If a visit to the ER doesn't work I would call the clinic that you used to go to and explain the situation. Maybe they can fax scripts to a chemist/pharmacy near to you?
If calling your old clinic and the ER doesn't work phone back this new clinic and tell them what you have tried. Maybe ask them if you get sick from lack of meds will they see you any earlier? Persistence always pays off. Good Luck. |

The new one should help you too. You have an appointment and had prescriptions. They can also put you on a call list for cancellations. Most places reserve spots for emergencies anyway.

Thanks to everyone. I'm still worried sick and not looking forward to being in the ER for hours, but I gotta do it. If that doesn't work, I'll just call my new clinic and let them know. Someone's gotta do something.

If you have the $50 I'd go to urgent care. Less of a wait and more likely to help. If you go through a national chain like rite aid they can call for a script and transfer it to your new city.

If you haven't already, go to the ER ASAP!
