I really don't care....but I see no harm in trying it. If it works out, great! If there is little/no participation, John can just close it. Easy as pie.

I think there should ALSO be a forum for gay/lesbian/bi/transgendered folks. I think they have some unique issues too. Of course, that's a whole new thread!

the doc and admin are aware that i would like a male forum otherwise they would not have pinned the thread,
i informed the doc about my ideas on how we can attract and keep new male members and took it upon myself to do the reasearch for him, putting my online friendships on the line in here in the process, freeing him up to do other things, this thread will show the doc if it is feaseable to have the male forum or not, like i said in a previous post i dont expect miricales, everything takes time and has a natural process, this is the first, or possibly last step, it is up to the doc and admin to decide now.

I think one of the main issues here, that mellors and I both picked up on (he being male, and me being a greeter) is that the majority of Male members here at PC are NOT posting. A Males Only forum might help more of them post, and receive the support PC can give.

With that said, the majority of FEMALE members here also don't post, but since there are so many females who DO post, there are plenty of threads to post upon. Not so with the guys, ok? (And who hasn't been here during a slow time to find no new threads to read? male only forum )

Men, in general, don't sit down and chat about their problems... they are used to talking out their issues while shooting hoops, making par, or reeling in a keeper. IMO we could easily open up a Males only forum (or similar by any other name) to help them with any anxiety of sharing personal problems.

Just my POV.

I like the idea of a male only forum. It gives them a place to call their own.
I don't see it as discriminatory at all, I am not at all insulted by it. It is good for a man to know he has a place where he can give and get male support. Chat communication is quite different from forum communication.
I post on a site that is for females only and I hang around that site more often than I do on mixed-genders sites.

Hello I think a male only forum would be great to have here on Psych Central, so males can discuss personal things, or things that males like to discuss. Hopefully you have heard from a lot of others that your idea is a good idea and would work well here at Psych Central. I hope the best for you with your endeavours. Take care Soidhonia
