Hi, Didn't really see a place to talk about this. Maybe you would prefer I didn't. If so, perhaps you could direct me to a forum or web site that might allow discussion of gender identity.
I've been working with the same t for 3 yrs, but we only started talking about this the past couple of months. The past 2 or 3 weeks I've been feeling sadder and sadder. I just can't see anything positive coming from exploring this issue. I told the t last week that I don't really feel I belong to either gender, or even to the human race. I feel as if I must be a member of some freaky fifth gender, not wholly male, female, or gay.
I was just wondering if there was anyone else who has been through something similar. I wondered why it has to feel so sad and unmanageable.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Chrys

Hey Chrys,

I don't see anything wrong with discussing this on this website, but as to which forum is best for discussing it, I have no idea! Perhaps health support? Maybe other people could give you a better idea.

Welcome don't know where to post, hope I don't offend

Hi Chrys,
First, Welcome to PC. I hope you will find support here and know that there are alot of caring people.
The Depression Forum is a great place to post. There are alot of people, including myself, that fight depression constantly.
I"m sorry you feel like you don't belong to any group. You know, severe depression can make you feel like you are losing touch with reality.
Wishing you all the best.
Hugs,
Linda

Hi Chrys, welcome to PC

id suggest depression too.

We all go through stages in our lives when we dont knwo who we are, an identity crisis. i know your situation is different as you are unsure of which gender, but things will become more clearer soon. if you have depression at the same time as trying to discover who you are, sexually and mentally, then it will make everything seem so much harder.

how old are you may i ask?

as boopers said, depression can make you feel detatched from the world, and reality.

i dont really know what to say to help, except to advise you to keep trying to find who you are. follow passions of yours, learn to know what you like and dislike, and hopefully that will help guide you towards finding who you really are.

you have found the right place to tackle your depression, and if you deal with that, hopefully in turn it will help you with your gender issues. so keep talking, keep posting, and we will all try to help as much as we can.

i would further suggest you look around the internet to find a gender issue forum, the reason i say that is because, even though we know depression through and through, we arent so educated on gender issues. but id like for you to stick around for sure. let us know if you do find something.

good luck and i hope you find the light soon.

Hi, Fact is I'm old, almost 50!! I put all this stuff away and refused to look at it. I decided it was better to bury it all as deeply as possible. I found a way to just keep marching along without looking at where my life was going or what was happening around me. Then, 3 yrs ago, I started rx, and kind of woke up. I've been gradually working things through. Thought things were going more smoothly past couple months, but I kind of fell down again of late. Thank you for all your kind words.

If your therapist took 3 years to get to this and cannot help you I would say you need a change.

two months isn't very long for this type of discussion.....i'd give the T more time and see how it develops.

i know you're in pain and i wish i knew more about helping you but i don't know anything about the issue.

i do know that you came to a good place to get support and find people that will listen to you and give you feedback.

keep posting and let us help support you.........pat
