how much does it cost for a bottle of blossom hill white wine in the country that you live in?
the reason i ask is i am trying to find someware to go for my holidays this year, and by naming a single make bottle of wine i can work out how much it is going to cost me for the holiday. the exchange rate shows me that the canadian dollar is worth can$2.31 to the £1, american is $1.97 to the £1. newzealand is nz$ 2.83 to the £1, and the euro, spits, is worth e1.52 to the pound, but it doesnt show me the cost of living and thats what i need to work out. |

I enjoy your posting, and apparent logic but have you considered other factors that might render your supposition inaccurate? What about import taxes and local fees and availability of local wine?

sky i just need a rough idea of how much it is, i know the price in pounds for said bottle ( its £5.00 per bottle here) and thats a cheap bottle of wine for me, the reason i specified a certain bottle is so i can do a direct comparison and work out roughly how much i would need to take with me, and if i could afford to go, when i do decide.
thanks sept that helps |

its not a question of just taking into account the exchange rates, with the current exchange rates across the board i get aprox 2 for the price of 1 where ever i decide to go with the strength of the £,
its the cost of living i need to work out, and by picking a product sold worldwide has a example i can work out what is going to be best for me, for example i wont be needing accomadation, i have a tent and sleeping bag, so thats money saved, i will be cooking my own food, more money saved there, budget flights are a must, and traveling internally when i get there will be on a motorbike i hire for the week or possibly 2, cheap petrol and insurance compared to a car, i will also have to have traveling medical insurance before i travel anyware. i know i sound like i am being a miser but i dont go on holidays where i have to spend a lot, the biggest expenses are going to be the flights and bike hire/insurance which will be paid for months in advance, i just dont want to end up running out o money when i am wherever i decide to go because i havent taken into account a unexpected expence, i will be on a tight budget so i cant afford to make a mistake and by planning the pros and cons now i can hopefully avoid a few of my previous mistakes when i have travelled overseas before, the biggest one is i will not travel to a country that doesnt speak english anymore, they are just to stressfull when things go wrong, so that eliminates europe ( except gibralter been there done that i lived there for 6 months before i got kicked out the country by the military for rock climbing up gibralter rock lol), africa ( mostly french speakers) so that leaves australia, newzealand, canada or america to choose from |

You might be surprised at how many people speak english in other countries. I'm from the US and I've been to Romania 3 times in the last 4 years. It is an absolutely beautiful country with a lot to offer, especially if you are backpacking and camping. Many people speak english in Romania...maybe not as many in the small villages, but in the larger ones, you can always find someone (usually under the age of 40) who can translate. Biggest problem in Romania is watching out for the gypsies...but other than that, I've had a wonderful time there. Their food is awesome too! Oh, and your money goes a long way in Romania too

europe is not an option fo me at this time, been there done that sort of thing, i wouldnt class europe has a holiday destination for me living in london, its to close to home, i can get a cheap flight, less than £50 return to almost anyware in europe from london
canada or australia are looking good at the moment, having trouble finding motorbike hire in canada at the mo but i am sure i could find one online somewhere. america is still an option at the moment also, but i have to see if i can get a visa first to get into the country before i spend anything on flights ect newzealand is out, flights are to expensive and motorbike hire prices are simply criminal, nz$125 per day with a nz$1500 deposit, i want to hire the bike not buy it!!!, it would be cheaper to go to the auctions and buy a bike and leave it there after the holiday than to hire 1 for the same period (7 days) anyway the search continues |

Advice from a Canadian:
First, I'm certain you can rent a bike in nearly any decent sized city. Second, when it comes to Canada, I don't think wine is a great indicator of cost of living since all alcohol is taxed to death here. On the other hand, I'm not quite sure I understand where the cost of living comes into it if you're going to be camping and cooking your own food. Doing that I would expect you to be able to live pretty cheaply pretty much anywhere. I recommend coming here but I'm biased. I would be surprised if you could get to Australia and back for less than it would cost to spend 2 weeks here under those conditions. p.s. I probably have no idea what I am talking about and should be taken with a grain of salt.
