My kids at Christmas gave me money for a washer/dryer. So yesterday I went to look at a few well known brands. I went in Sears and looked around saw what I wanted, but wanted to take a few minutes to think and not be impulsive. I left and returned in about a hour. No one helped me the first time... that was ok. When I went back in I was greeted by a cashier by "What do you want" No hello or may I help you. I said to her I beg your pardon, are you talking to me. She repeated it again. I said to her I want to be treated with respect and kindness. I turned around and walked out of the store. My teenage and middle adults want to say more. But I took control of the situation. Setting in my car on the drive home I deceided, I would call the store and make a complaint. I did, requested a manager. She was very apologetic. She said this womyn is very elderly and not have been feeling well. That is still no excuse.....

thats a shame when that happens. what ever happened to the polite, welcomed attitude we can get in these stores.

they dont deserve our services.

well done for complaining. and, double well done for taking such calm control over it. good on ya!

did you get a washer/dryer in the end?

I was in Retail Mgmt. for 17 years. The lady was probably a long time employee who was "downsized". Sears, like many other retailers are reducing long term employees from full time to part time, so they don't have to pay health insurance. Most of the elderly employees have trouble finding suitable FT employment elsewhere. They mainly work for health benefits. It makes them very bitter "wounded Tiger", and rightfully so. It is, however, the norm these days.

Whatever the reason for this ladies rudeness, I feel she should have stayed home if she couldn't extend a bit of kindness and courtesy to you.

Afterall, we are the ones that are keeping their doors open.

Hugs,

I'm sorry that happened to you. I'm glad you were able to handle it in a way that was empowering. Like Simon, I wonder if you got the w & d.

A lot of people like take out there frustrations on others. They don't think about the way it will effect the other party then and through out there day. I am sorry that this upset you.
It's great that you were the better person and didn't explode at her or make any type of rude comments to her. I praise you for that. I hope your day gets better.

Cajun, she gets a salary... when she woke up that morning she was going to a job where she represents a company.... where people spend money..... I understand about the elderly.... I am elderly myself....and have worked many years. ... I have treated my patients, with kindness and respect.... no matter how bad I was feeling..... or what dysfunction was going on in my life....I checked it at the door.....
Thank for your opinon.....and this is mine....
