I am trying to avoid the news as i have been doing for so many years...but since a rocket fell in my neighborhood and i started praying so hard to defend the place i live, and the places i love...i find peace in reading some of them. I also cry a lot for the dead soldiers... and fear a lot because of the possibilities of a long war.
I am tired. I want no more alarms. No more hatred. No more lies..... ![]() I have an exam and august. I once had a therapist ![]() I don`t know if i should bother him again.... I guess you can say it is natural. My problem is making such a slow progress in studies..but since the exam is in August - should I really ask for a delay? Everyday i tell myself i will do more today but feel exhausted, mad, groggy after 2 or 3 hours. Please God..... |

I read the news at times just to stay up to date on whats going on in the world, but too much of it can certainly be a bad thing and get your head filled with all the bad stuff so it can be harder to see any good things.
But given your location some of the 'news' is happening right there, so whether you read it or not what's going on there is likely to effect you, but its normal for people to be over-stressed and exhausted and feel a bit down in situations like that....If you have the option to get a delay on your exam and feel like that would be beneficial I'd say go for it. Also maybe going back into therapy would be a good idea, if that has helped you cope in the past.

What kind of rocket was it. If the news bothers you then you shouldn't watch it. Just my opinion.

Hi Irine, Please know that the Jewish community here in California has everyone in Israel in our loving prayers. For many of us who have visited or lived in Israel and have family and friends in Israel, I don't think we can help but follow the news. For one thing, any of us who are on Facebook have come up against the inevitable posts lamenting the people in Gaza....I've lost a number of friends over these past 2 weeks because of our disagreements. It is in our faces everywhere we turn.
I can only imagine how frightened you must feel at this time. I believe you have every reason to ask for your psychiatrist's help and speak with him. Last edited by sabby; Aug 01, 2014 at 11:01 PM. Reason: administrative edit to bring within guidelines |

I can't imagine living in an area like you do right now. I'm saddened by the loss of life on either side of the issue, but I wanted you to know that I am praying for you and your safety and that of your family and friends. It's hard to stay away from the news when you are smack dab in the middle of all the bombing and upheaval. I guess I think that it's important to stay as up to date on the latest issues going on though in order to keep yourself as safe as possible. I think that is the name of the game. I really think that seeing your T would be very helpful. You need a place to be able to unload your fears and anxiety safely. You deserve to be able to do that. Please consider calling your T. ![]() |

I can't imagine either. May you be safe. May this conflict end very very soon. May you see peace where you live, in your heart and in your mind. Take care!!!!!!

I read your headline, and I thought "ah, just turn off the tv, avoid the media, ignore it" - then I read your first lines and realized you are living it. We Americans are so shielded, these things happen on our tv screens to other people.
I am so sorry for your situation, I will say a prayer for your safety and for all in the war zone, and hope that you can find some relief from your anxiety and are able to succeed in studying for your exams. |
