Yes, it is semantics, but also good self care to use the correct words and "guilt" is not one of them LET'S GET OFF OUR HIGH HORSES! I won't get into that discussion again now about taking responsibility, because first you have to accept the differences of words like guilt and shame and all. A high horses? No, it's a learning curve... it's good to realize this... not feel guilty because something caused you to do things you wouldn't normally? It could be a good discussion IMO if it weren't so subject to negative attacks to try and prove me wrong or you right...

for a person who is dealing with mental unwellness can't possibly realize these things... not by themselves, how can they? They are mentally unwell, not thinking logically, rationally and yet they are to take responsibility for their actions? I know plenty of mentally healthy " " people who can't do that.

no, I am not dancing in that minefield right now. LET'S GET OFF OUR HIGH HORSES!

I never said words to mean that no one is ever harmed because of mental illness. I'm sorry anyone took that that way.

Sky what you just said here is so true, most people who are mentally unwell don't know it as those around them notice somethings not right, some do recognize it. Golly, there's people like my hubby who denies he has depression, anger, and a need to control, 3 therapists and one pdoc, told me he really needs some therapy, but he claims he's just fine, and never persued therapy.
Mental issues in a home can be devasting, I know I grew up in a home like that, my brother had many violent episodes, deep depressions,my parents fought, but my brother had no control, no way could he be responsible for this, he was mentally unwell, and back in the 60's there weren't good meds like today, just Lithium had been released in the US, and he's been with it for 30 plus years and then became responsible, keeping stable, etc. People need to understand some may be responsible and recognize their illness, while that is not always true for others, nothings black or white. And those suffering do not like all of this and are devastated just as much or more, than the so called "normal/stable" spouse, child, or friend. I agree with what Sky has posted in her reply.
Just my 2 cents

To those who believe that they are, somehow, better than others, ought to take a good look at themselves in the mirror!

Not one soul can ever truly know to what extent any of their actions (even the tiniest of lies) has actually caused by what I will call "the ripple effect."

We are ALL human beings and we are ALL entitled to empathy, sympathy and forgiveness.

I cannot imagine that ANY ONE OF US who claims to have a mental illnes can say that we have not caused devastation to other peoples' lives. We are all here because of pain we cause, either to ourselves and to OTHERS!!!

If you are one of these people who has never hurt another, then please, cast that first stone!!

As we all know, behaviours are passed down from father to son; mother to daughter; brother to sister; sister to sister; child to child; neighbour to neighbour. You get the picture, here.

I am so tired of being judged by this world for iniquities that can be found in every single person that lives on the face of the earth, no matter how repugnant.

As far as I know, there has only been one PERFECT human being on this planet - EVER. And if this is not your belief, fine, because it only means that we are all inadequate to live if we truly knew the effects of every decision we have ever made in our entire life.

NOW..... may we all remember this when we are posting / replying in all threads, or starting to judge another (based on our life & belief system) and not the actual life the other person has sufferer through.

May we all hold onto this old staying - for it is ever so true.

Was an angry post - thus the "angry icon." I am an angry person. I'm also a little skilled in how to get attention - thus the dramatic subject line.

With a little more practice, I am hoping to be less aggressive in my posts and responses. I think the "dramatics" will always be there - it's just part of who I am.

Workin' on it,
Altered State

I'm probably getting myself in deeper here. But its making me sick to be here now. Why? Because I am feeling shunned and kept from my friends also. So much more I need to say but cant... Maybe soon.. all the walls that surround me will come down and crush me and it wont matter anymore. Maybe then .. some will be happy.
