Hi Everyone,
I hope someone out there has the answers I need about Affirmations and Visualization. I am being told the reason my wishes don't become reality, manifest is because I am not doing this correctly. What is the "Proper" way or "Certain way" to word affirmations to get them into the subconscious so they resonate with what I am trying to manifest? AND! Is there a proper way to visualize what I want to make it more than a dream? Any answers would be most appreciated! Love and Peace, |

It's not just about visualizing and affirming. You have to work to make your dreams happen. Find out what's necessary to achieve your goal, then create a plan. Write down the steps necessary to reach your goal, and do them, step by step. Whether you want to buy something, get a new career, earn a degree, meet a special someone, etc., you can't count on luck, and just wishing and believing it will happen isn't enough. You have to make it happen.

There are many ways to go about this. I tend to do it in many ways during my day. I know some of these things may seem minor but they add up. I have umpteen passwords in my home and work life on the internet. I make them positive, forward moving words or words that will remind me what I am working on to keep them up front on my mind and psyche. I also tape things to my computer... such as a wonderfully simplistic "Trust Happiness". So small yet so big and important.
There is also a book/movie/etc... that has gotten some good and bad press called The Secret... Gee is it legal for me to say that here? At any rate it has some powerful cognitive stuff.. some good and some questionable but mainly good I think. Just go through it and see what works for you. This involves putting yourself visually where you wish to be and that kind of thing. It is interesting anyhow. Little things like these things do build on each other. Listen to positive, uplifting music or music that you have positive regard and positive experience with. I know there is alot out there but this is all I can think of at the moment. Bit by bit, step by step... forward movement. Go for it. |

Yes, it's legal to mention The Secret. I thought that's what prompted Dominic's post, actually.
Welcome to the board, both of you. ![]()

There is no 'proper' way because everyone is different. If you let your emotions guide you then you will find the proper way for you. As you make an affirmation statement take notice of how it makes you feel. If there is any resistance then simply reword it until it feels good. That being said..
I AM .. is one of the best phrases to use when trying to rewrite your subconscious. I AM is telling your mind that something is right now. |

I am in group therapy and the counselor that is running it does these breathing visualizations thing. She also brought in a book that had lots of relaxation visualizations in it. in fact the whole book is relaxation visualizations. I asked her where she got it and she said she went to a seminar workshop by the author Belle Ruth Naparstack (or Naparstak) she gave me the website today she said to just type that the name into the search thing and it will come up as healthjourneys.com but its the same place. I just looked at it and its really cool. Theres some relaxation visualizations called weekly spa and others on the website too. I just listened to one of them and I loved it. she has books and tapes and bath stuff and lots other stuff too.

A lot of this stuff goes back to Norman Vincent Peale and the positive thinking movement. I believe it's a good thing to be positive, visualize positive outcomes, and then work for those outcomes systematically. Also, I think it's a good thing to keep other positive people in our lives.
The philosophy can be carried to an extreme when a person starts to blame herself for not "doing it right." For example, a study was done of cancer patients who believed they ought to be able to cure themselves and then, when there was no remission, blamed themselves for not thinking right and doing it right. This is not at all useful. Some psychologists and philosophers say this is the point where we start to use magical thinking, the notion that all we have to do is think a thing, a visualize it, and it's going to happen. In sum, dominic, don't beat yourself up for not doing it right. After all, that's just more negative thinking. ![]() I hope all this makes sense and that I haven't stepped on any virtual toes.

One way to learn (basic) visualization is to sit meditatively before a burning candle. Stare at the flame and calm yourself, your mind and try to clear your mind etc... focus on the flame... once you feel at peace, then close your eyes and work at keeping the flame before you in your mind. That is has light will help you "see" an image... as you do this you will be able to keep the image of the flame longer and longer (with your eyes closed.)
Taking time away from everyday life and learning to come away from it helps to get away from the fray and find what really matters to you. Perhaps you are going into too many different directions to focus any real energy in one? TC
