Im a bit confused. here in America the term mental health is a cover all term to mean everything about mental health (it includes the good side of things and the bad like...mental disorders, treatment plans, how a person feels about their self, how a person feels about others, how a person interacts with their self and others....) its kind of like the term math covers everything from adding, subtracting, dividing, multiplication, geometry, ...

example my mental health right now is that I am happy with my life and those around me, I enjoy my work, I have bipolar disorder, PTSD, Multiple Sclerosis, my treatment plans include medication, various types of therapies to address my problem areas......

in order for any of us to really understand what you mean you need to tell us what about your mental health is in question, what part of your mental health do you feel might not be real....

just taking a guess because most if not all people when thinking about their mental health sometimes have trouble with believing whether their mental disorder is real or not that this is what you mean. if so theres an easy way to solve this problem. talk with your treatment providers they can tell you why and with what you are diagnosed with. if you still do not agree with them that these mental disorders exist in you, you can ask for diagnostic evaluations, here in america this is a series of tests that diagnose mental physical and learning disorders.
Thanks for this!

Hello Discos, welcome to Psych Central.

Not lies! Denial can be part of the symptoms. Have you been to the doctor to get a diagnosis? One in four will suffer a severe mental health problem in their life. If your husband lives with you then he might be in a position to let you know when he feels you are not feeling well and need help. It says on your profile page that you are suicidal. Please contact a help line is soon as possible if this is the case >>> Samaritans | Samaritans and Common Hotline Phone Numbers | Psych Central

I can relate. I've been stressing about the same thing tonight. Especially when I have trouble remembering how I felt way back whenever, and don't understand how I could've felt that way now.
I hope you're okay?

Hello Jamie21: Welcome to PsychCentral. PC is a great place to gain support, learn strategies for handling mental health concerns, & to make internet friends. There are many wonderfully supportive members here on PsychCentral.

All new members' first 5 posts are reviewed before they become available for viewing by the community. So there may be a delay between the time that you submit your first 5 posts & the point at which they become available for viewing. However, once these initial posts have been reviewed & approved, your posts will become available for viewing as soon as you click the submit button.

There are quite a few forums in which you will be able to post. If you have not already done so, be sure to look through the listing in the Forum Index:

http://forums.psychcentral.com/

Each forum is listed in the Index along with a brief description of it's purpose. You will also see listed a number of social groups. A few of these are open to anyone to join. Most, however, require that you apply & be accepted into the group.

Also, once your first 5 posts have been reviewed & approved, you will be able to participate in our chat rooms where you'll have the opportunity to correspond with other PC members in real time. These chat rooms are listed on the community calendar showing the dates & times they meet:

It's not a lie if you believe it. I know that's a quote from seinfeld, but it's true in this case, if you believe you are not mentally well then there is probably a reason for that.

Jamie, I'm glad you have a therapist. Sometimes when we start opening up about painful things in our lives we feel more confused and anxious and upset for a while. We may feel more irritated and impatient with our loved ones. So it is legitimately confusing. Feb 12 is almost two weeks away. If the voices keep bothering you or if you feel like you can't take it, it would be a good idea to call the crisis team. Maybe they could help you before Feb 12.

You're brave to talk about this and I'm glad you're talking here at Psych Central. It's nice having you here.
