I'm rockin today. Like the mad hatter of household cleaning today. Decided to re arrange some bedrooms and make a more 'student friendly' space for my son to study this upcoming year. Turned into quite the chore.

I don't know where the energy came from but I'm running with it just the same.

You always rock D.... but I hope your energy and va-va-voom returns soon.

Thanks Beth.... good to be here too. I've been around for a few months but my posting isn't always regular. I do appreciate all the folks here on PC. It's good to know there is always someone around to listen when I need a friendly ear.

Look forward to getting to know you better. I post around here and there on other threads but mostly this one or on the Native Spirituality thread. Kind of my safety zones I guess. This is a big place. It's easy to get overwhelmed with the number of posts and people. I have to limit my time here cuz one could easily get lost in here and never get out. lol.

Construction zone is right.... what began as a room cleaning and shuffle has become a total room overhaul. The windows are even out so that I can sand and paint them and replace some broken parts. I gave up trying to keep paint off the yukky old carpet on the floor. I'm thinking cork... I hear that's a good choice these days. See what I mean!! One thing leading to another. I still don't have the pretty yellow paint on the walls. Finally got the paint on the ceiling after a couple of mis-adventures.

I was sanding and patching most of today again. Tomorrow I should be painting the walls and windows and figuring out what to do with the ceiling paint all over the carpet.

Here's how the paint got on the carpet.... first the big blotches that are still there .... I'm using this special roller for the yukky popcorn ceiling. It's a large roller made of thick foam. It's very heavy when soaked full of paint. So heavy in fact that it keeps tipping over and falling off the end of the broom handle I'm using to reach the ceiling. The threading didn't quite match either so that didn't help.

So here I am underneath this big heavy foam roller and it keeps popping off the end of my stick and either lands directly on me, the drop cloth or the one spot of carpet not covered. And when it hits or bounces it splatters all its paint everywhere and leaves a big strip of paint where it lands. After about 5 or 6 of these bombs because I kept failing to secure the roller to the handle... finally went looking for a better broom handle. DAH!!! LOL....By the time I was done painting the ceiling I was covered from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet from walking on the spots where the roller had landed. What a mess.

Amazingly I didn't freak out.... too badly.... too often.... lol. I stuck with it and am going back for more tomorrow. lol. It will be a short day though cuz it's mom's bday. Want to see what that yellow is going to look like though so I'll have to work early and fast tomorrow.

Before I go here's one more story... this happened before the roller stuff... I was getting ready to go up the ladder to paint the edges with a brush... As I was walking I dropped the yogart container full of paint onto the carpet at the open doorway (not covered by the cloth) hitting the hardwood in the hall, the walls, and all over the side of a nearby bucket...

I summoned my son to get me another bucket of soapy water. I pulled the rag from the bucket that was there and started trying to soak up the paint. My son brought me a fresh bucket and I sent him to dump and clean the one I was using that was covered in paint itself. Just then I realized I was dealing with oil based paint... not latex. I was too late to stop my son from dumping and putting the bucket covered with oily paint into the tub.

So there I am with oil based white paint splattered on the hardwood and the walls, a pizza sized blob on the carpet and a royal mess in the tub. Having no turpintine I race to the shed to get some gasoline so that I could start the clean up. After about an hour I actually had all the paint out of the carpet and off the floors and walls. The house smells of gas but there was no evidence of the spill and the bucket and tub were even clean. I carefully refilled the yogart container, carefully reset the drop clothes and painted the edges of the ceiling... without incident... until the roller bombs.

After the roller fell off my broomstick a few times I gave up trying to keep the carpet clean. I figure if I put any more gas on that carpet it'll blow up. Lol.... Cork or a paint remover.... hummm... either way another project delay.... I'm having fun at least.... if you can believe it. lol.

Oh yea... forgot to mention... when I dropped the paint container... who was the first to appear.... the dog of course... he ran right through the oily paint and back out through the rest of the house. Paw prints went on for quite a while..... too much hey. And i'm still here!!!

lol.... yea it was quite a day. And I forgot to report one other 'incident'. I have a big juicy burn on my inside forearm. I was putting veggies into a hot pan to stir fry and the hot oil splashed up and hit my arm. During my battles with the roller the blister got ripped off and the pain near knocked me off my feet. It's about an inch long and half an inch wide right at the spot where my arm hits the computer pad. Ouch.... It dried up in the night so its better today.

So far no incidents to report. The final sanding is done and everything is washed down again..... time to pop open that can of yellow paint.

Thanks for stopping by to say good morning. It is a beautiful morning here today. The sun is shining and the garden is drooping some for need of water. I'm off to buy some groceries here pretty soon for our bday dinner tonight. Great day for a BBQ.

Take care.....

Im getting nervous now about the art show, can't decide what to enter or even what is "good enough" giving myself negative self talk! Bad Girl that I am! So, thought Id pop online to say Hey you. Your story makes me laugh and then hope you are OK. I will think positive from now on....I can do it cuz Im a "Rockin Survivor!" Rockin Survivors

You bet... only positive affirmations remember. That's our rockin survivors motto....

I'm sure whatever you enter in the show will be perfect. Give yourself a big pat on the back for being engaged enough to be entering. Beats those shut in days hey.

I sure hope we connect in the chat room someday soon. Seems like forever since we gabbed away an hour or so.

August 27... the twin moon thing is suppose to happen. I need to learn more about it. We aren't getting much moon action around here. Its too low. I can see the glow behind the mountains but it doesn't get high enough for me to see it from my house. May have to go find an more open place to view it. Just after midnight it is suppose to happen.

Good for you... I'm not doing as well. Bought a jug yesterday but I still have half the bottle so at least I've cut back more than 50% so that's a good start. I don't do coffee so the diet pepsi and the chocolate are my caffine sources. Not been eating so much chocolate lately. Seem to go in spirts with it. I haven't lost any more weight so that's a good thing. I guess.... lol.... used to be my excuse for using pot and eating chocolate... prevent weightloss... lol. Now I exercise more to build an apitite.

My room is still happening. Maybe today the painting will be finished. But then I have to decide about the damned floor before I can redress the room. Like that... redress the room... right off of Home and Garden TV. Talking the decorator lingo... lol

Good luck today with the art submission. That is today right?

One of these evenings we will find each other again.... cant wait!!

Yes I submitted my painting "Flaming August" OK and now I just have to wait to read the list on sept 1 to see if I made the main show. I hope I did, it would be a major accomplishment for me, but Im not counting on it and there is the secondary show that I am assured to be in so Im definately in some art show. Rockin Survivors I feel so artsy! I have been fiendishly painting lately getting ready for the little exhibit too so you might say Im immersing myself in art, and getting very splattered with paint. I will try to take a digital of the show and send you one.
Yesterday at the SAFE board meeting I was elected to one of the empty spots then nominated to be on the executive commitee. Im blown away anyone voted for me! I guess I have more friends than I thought. THis is going to mean meetings at night which won't sit well with John, he is mad that I was late yesterday from the Opal Network Planning meeting already. Oh Well, what am I to do but keep being patient? This stuff really means a lot to me. I feel like Im really doing something good for the Mental Health System and Consumer/survivors of it. By the way, how do you feel about the word Consumer? THat is the accepted word for now for mental health consumers but one member of the ONP is irate at the use of that word. Also the word survivor, which I approve of heartily. Client sounds too cold. Koo-koo head is just wrong, so what do you think? Any thoughts? My feeling is that consumer is in popular usage now and it is too late to get away from it so what's the big deal anyway. This member is a rabble rouser and almost had me walking out of the meeting yesterday with her near violent way of speaking. Our lovely moderator put a stop to that and we actually had to discuss ways and rules about treating each other. LOL like Kindergarten. All for her benefit. LOL Anyway, Im sure you've been to your share of meetings so I bet you know what I mean.

How are you doing? Still feeling good I hope. And on the dressing part of your room. Hope to hear from you soon and hope all is well...
Your pal

Well hello Madame Board of Director. Good for you D. It will be a great experience for you. Hope John comes around to see how healthy this is for you. My advise.... don't let people shake you up. Learn to listen and reserve comment when people come to you to complain or push their ideas. Try to take it slowly. Don't jump in to anything until you've had some time to become familiar with things. Until you have had time to gather enough information to form your own views. There is always politics going on in organizations like SAFE so you want to move slowly to start so that you don't get tangled into someone else's agenda. I know you will be a wonderful addition as an advocate of people with MIs.

Good luck with the art shows. What joy!!!

As for me..... my room is mostly 'dressed' and my house is back in order again. I still need to make new drapes. Thinking roman blinds but I don't have any fabric right now so they will have to wait. Had venicians but they got trashed so bare windows for now. The carpet is still there but the worst of my paint blotches are covered by furniture. The rest has a rug on top. I do want to put a cork floor down at some point in the future. For now it is ready to go... my office is finally open for business again. lol. So I'll be working like a mad woman till my son gets home to catch up on some of my work. I really like the yellow. Very cheerful. Be nice during those long dark days of winter.

Can't wait to hear the results of the art selection. Go D!!!

Hi D.... nice to see you posting here again.

I'm surviving.... still....lol. Not sure if I'm Rockin' but then again its winter time. I used to do a lot of rushing around at this time of year.... holiday season and all. In one past life I'd be buried in fabric in my studio making holiday dresses. In another I'd be performing, preaching and serving food to street people at coffee houses, soup kitchens and shelters. In another I'd be flooded with term papers and projects to grade before semester break. Another.... oh forget it.... just showing off my age, lol.

This year.... just a simple time. Doing a few crafts and some baking for most of my gift giving. Have my son's birthday party to organize before Christmas so that usually kicks off the party spirit. He parties amid the Christmas decorations with a few happy birthday signs and wrapping papers thrown in. It can be hard to coordinate date and time with kids whose families are busy with Christmas gatherings at the same time. We just make it appealing enough that the kids convince their parents to let them come anyways. lol.

I miss being part of a church at this time of year. Used to like doing the costuming for the Christmas concerts. I suppose I could still do it if I really wanted to but..... like I said.... not much rock and roll in my survival these days. Just making it through the 'must do's' that I can't put off. That's mostly how my days are going. Staying out of the fray. Pretending some problems will just go away. Ignoring the stressors as best that I can.... for as long as I can. Distracting myself with nothingness stuff. For another hour or so at least anyways. Just need to stop myself from stretching that to another day.... or week. Gee... where does the time go!!!

Anyways.... back to trying to get back to work...... lol... maybe a piece of chocolate will energize me....
