I was assessed by a mental health nurse today. We had a long talk, asking me lots of questions about my emotions and how I am coping with life atm. After a long winded talk...he made up his mind that I may be suffering from psychosis, mostly the paranoia side of it and delusions and he said I am a "very depressed young lady". I have thoughts about wanting to harm people and how they stare at me on the streets and as if they know what is going on in my mind. I am very nervous about walking around the streets sometimes.

But other times I just want to laugh and I love everyone. I either want to isolate myself from the world or I want to be around people. My moods seem to go from one extreme to the other. Sometimes I need very little sleep...other times I just wish I would never wake up. He has asked me how I was feeling today...I told him how I didn't feel anything. All I feel is numbness. There is no feelings...and I just want to sleep all day. Be away from the rest of the world.

He is no psychiatrist though so he couldn't really give me a proper diagnose. He has refereed me to an psychiatrist but there is a long waiting list. At least a months wait which sucks but at least I've made the first step. For the time being I'll try and not give in with my intrusive thoughts and to keep myself safe.

I am glad that you were assessed by the mental health nurse today.

Yes, I understand that a definitive diagnosis can not be made until you see your psyciatrist in a months time; however; some strong opinions have been given to you which may be causing this and I don't think that they can be ignored.

Some challenges ahead for you whilst you wait for your pdoc:

- the suspected psychosis you may be suffering
- current depression
- thoughts of harming others
- wild mood swings
- lack of sleep
- flatness
- intrusive thoughts

But I think you've summed it up pretty well with your last phrase here:

"Keep myself safe".

With all due respect you may not be the best judge of this right now

If I'm in an extreme mood state it takes others to point out my behaviour or thoughts.

You are aware of some which may not be appropriate - thoughts of wanting to harm others is right up at the top of the list.

If you find yourself suddenly transitioning from the "thought" of wanting to harm others to suddenly thinking actively now you must go out and harm others - all I can say is

SEEK MEDICAL INTERVENTION ASAP

Thanks for the reply and the support. Means a lot to me right now. The session has drained me completely and after all that I had to take 2 tests at my work office so I can start health and social care nvq 3. Haha. Luckily I passed 2 tests. It's been a long day for me so far. You are right about keeping myself safe. Idk what is safe right now? I feel that my bedroom is my safest place than the outside. Lack of people is ok because at least I know there isn't too many staring at me, judging me.

Sounds like you are doing what you need to do to take of you. That is all any of us can really do.
Keeping self safe is priority #1. Intrusive thoughts are just thoughts. When I experience them, I acknowledge them and do whatever I can to distract myself from them. It is harder than it sounds, but can be done.

I find that work often helps distracts them but then I drain myself from working almost everyday ahaha.

Nothing wrong with a distraction. Maybe find a distraction that won't be too draining on your physical health?

Glad you went to see someone today. *hugs* Just wait it out until you can get a proper assessment with the psych. I hope that he/she might give you some answers or at least point you in the right direction.
