Prayers, Good Thoughts, etc. Needed for West Virginia

Central and southern West Virginia is flooding. I am safe and I have Mom here with me, so she's ok, too. Coincidentally her furnace died last night, and I brought her here earlier and didn't have to go through water to get to her.

There is a damn getting ready to break near Hamlin, WV. They are trying to evacuate 1,000 people before it goes and time is very short. Other people are trapped in their homes.

I have relatives involved and so does my neighbor Cher.

Please send prayers, good thoughts, or whatever you do to these people in trouble.

They have just announced there are 9 million gallons of water in that lake where the dam is breaking!!!!!! They are desperately trying to get the people out of there. I feel so sorry for those poor, poor people. Hamilin will be gone, just gone.

Two people are missing from where Cher's family live. They haven't announced names yet.

The last word is that volunteer fire fighters are trying to pump water out of the damn to keep the whole thing from going even though they expect it to breach at any moment. What brave souls those people are to put their lives on the line for their neighbors. Their unselfish bravery stuns me.

There has been a landside in addition to the overflow pipes being clogged with debris and it has made things even worse.

They are trying to get people to a church and are transporting them from there to the High School. They said the water will hit everything down to and including, Hamlin with a wall of water.

Keep the good thoughts and prayers coming and thank you ever so much.

I just watched the news. As I suspected, the water here is much higher than they expected. The firemen/women are still pumping water out of the lake where the damn is damaged. They have to get it down another five feet before they can begin to repair it. The people are still sheltered at the high school.

There are many mud slides and roads are blocked.

The governor has declared a state of emergency for part of West Virginia.

Please keep those good thoughts and prayers coming. I appreciate it so much.

Stay safe! I'll be saying my prayers for you and W. Virginia, and ask for your prayers for us in NH. The governer declared a state of emergency here a few hours ago. Many roads closed, washed away...many power outages, my best friend is being evacuated from her home as there is only one way out for her now and that will close up soon.

This storm is horrible and I pray for everyone's safety!

I am praying for all the W Va residents. It puts my problems in perspective. My basement flooded this morning and I have had no heat all day. But we just bought a pump and hopefully we will dry out by tomorrow.

They just announced they are going to tear down the dam as soon as possible. The firemen/women are still draining it. Thank the good Lord the big dams held last night. We have several huge man made lakes here.

The smaller rivers cannot flow into the larger ones because the water is so high in all of them. So, more people are being flooded today. Bless them, poor things.
