The agency I work for supporting folks with developmental disabilities has seen fit to cut costs again by taking away certain mileage re-imbursement that we folks who work in the trenches depend on.

Over the past year, they have made some really stupid choices and it all seems to fall on those of us who can least afford these changes. We are on the bottom of the list when it comes to rates of pay. We make squat compared to those who are behind a desk and have degrees up the yingyang. We work our butts off because we believe that these folks we support deserve every chance in the world to have as normal a life as possible. Yet, when it comes down to brass tacks, the agency could care less about how they treat us.

This was the last damn straw as far as I'm concerned!! I tendered my resignation this afternoon. I have mixed emotions as the individual I work with and I have become quite a team together. I will miss her and I will worry about her after I'm gone from the agency. At the same time I'm sick of being taken advantage of and refuse to be kicked once again by the agency. Screw them!

There are plenty of other places I can work for. I have already sent my resume out to 2 other agencies, one like the one I now work for and one for the mental health agency in my area. And there are more agencies I can apply to in the area.

Damn damn damn them! I hate this ... you have no idea how much I hate this. Not to mention the fact that I can't afford to be partially unemployed right now. I need both jobs.......grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Hopefully I will find something in the next 2 weeks that I can start at after I move on the 28th.

Gosh, sometimes life can be so freakin frustrating Grrrrrrrrr I"m so irritated right now Grrrrrrrrr I"m so irritated right now Grrrrrrrrr I"m so irritated right now Grrrrrrrrr I"m so irritated right now Grrrrrrrrr I"m so irritated right now Grrrrrrrrr I"m so irritated right now Grrrrrrrrr I"m so irritated right now

grrr. I'm sorry you already quit. It's always easier to find another job when you are still employed. That you can't afford to be unemployed, well, sounds like you cut off your nose to spite your face.

I'm sorry that they made you so angry that you felt you needed out immediately. It can work out for you, I hope...

I hope the other agencies haven't also cut back due to their federal funding being cut... Grrrrrrrrr I"m so irritated right now that would be tough.

If it's etched in steel, then try and move on and enjoy your free time. I'm sure there's lots of things to do with that upcoming move! Grrrrrrrrr I"m so irritated right now

Hoping you get a better work situation... TC

I hear what you are saying Sky about finding another job when I'm already employeed. I can guarentee you this, in my line of work, it doesn't matter if I'm employeed when I'm searching or not. The agencies are desperate for good support providers and my supervisor will be a good reference, along with the agency nurse and a few others who will give me good references. I'm really not that concerned at this point....just sounding off more than anything. Oh, and I'm not quitting without giving a 2 week notice....I never burn my bridges like that. Grrrrrrrrr I"m so irritated right now

I have been wanting to leave this particular agency for quite some time now. This happening just brought it full circle for me and gave me the push I needed to move on. There is some past history where another area of the agency put the screws to me as a home provider which has made my tenure there somewhat difficult.

Money wise, I can't afford to be out of work for too long. I do have savings, but I really don't want to dip into it. The other option is that I might be able to put more hours in at the newspaper. My boss has mentioned that he is working on getting another fulltime position to open up and he would like to offer it to me. So that is a consideration too.

Thanks for your concern Grrrrrrrrr I"m so irritated right now Much appreciated! And you are right...I will have some free time to unpack and get settled, so it's not all bad!!!

I'm so sorry this has happened. It's awful to be on the bottom of the totem pole.

I hope you find another job very quickly. I didn't know you work two jobs. I hope you make enough money with your new job so you can just work one instead of two.

You are a kind and generous soul.

Hugs,

Jan

Best of luck to you Sabau. The less money you make, the more likely you are to be screwed over, it seems.

Here's an Update! *****NEWSFLASH*****

After emailing my boss my intent to resign, I received a response from her, begging me to come in and "talk to her" so we could brainstorm and come up with a solution so that I don't leave.

Ummmm....Thanks but NO THANKS!

It is clearly apparent to me that every time a new policy is made, everyone has to scramble to figure out a way around it, then in 6 months it's discovered and another policy change is created again. I'm sorry, but I am NOT playing those games anymore. They exhaust me. I can't keep up with them. My life is stressful enough on a good day, I don't want to and I won't play games with my employers.

Don't get me wrong, I am not one of those who cannot handle change. On the contrary, I usually embrace change as I look at it as an opportunity to learn and grow. But these changes the agency makes are constant and in many ways always screwing those of us in the trenches. I'm just not up to this anymore....it's sucking the life right out of me.

In the mean time, I've spoken with my other boss at the newspaper and told him I gave my notice at the agency. To my delight, he is speaking with the general manager and comptroller this week to let them know he would like to hire me full time ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, I've known he wanted me full time since I started back at the newspaper last December. But I didn't expect him to jump so quickly and I'm really pleased. Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside Grrrrrrrrr I"m so irritated right now So, I'm kind of holding my breath until Friday (my next working day at the paper) to find out what the answer is. Knowing the newspaper as I do (I've worked there for a total of 16 years) I realize they may not decide to hire me full time. And that's ok, there are plenty of other jobs I can go for and get. I'm not worried about it. I would just like to have a full time position with health insurance again. It's been over 2 years since I've had health insurance...and that's not good.

Anywho....your positive vibes and prayers would be appreciated folks. Thanks a bunches Grrrrrrrrr I"m so irritated right now

I don't know if I'm brave or stubborn or pig headed or stupid LOL.

I do know that I don't like being taken advantage of and treated unfairly. I stand up for my clients when that happens to them so why shouldn't I stand up for myself when it happens to me? I don't advocate quitting jobs as a rule. But when there is nothing that can be done to change management, and knowing that things will only continue downhill (I can see the writing on the wall), I have to do what my gut tells me to do.

Thanks for the hug! (((((((((((((Wants2Fly))))))))))))))))))

It is disheartening the way you were treated. I hope the best for you. It sounds by your post that you have the conviction and determination to move forward. Again I wish you the best of luck, the next organization will be gaining a valuable member..

Hey, I hope you get that full-time position! That is so wonderful, to be wanted like that!

Stubborn or pig-headed or a risk-taker, what does it matter? You have to take risks to get good things sometimes, and yeah, sometimes you don't get those good things, but when you do--it's awesome! I really hope you get some good things! Grrrrrrrrr I"m so irritated right now

Thanks so much! You are right, one does have to take risks in life to get anywhere. And yes, it does feel good to be wanted and needed Grrrrrrrrr I"m so irritated right now But I am prepared for an answer of "no". So it won't devestate me or anything...I'll just keep on keeping on and find something somewhere else! One door closes, and another opens.
