That's pretty much all I have ever known in all aspects of my life, so I better learn how to deal with it. A lot of psychology is misplaced in targeting mental problems, at least in my case. How about something to deal with the fact that I am a sub-standard human being?

I am sorry ((IT)), it's not your fault, you have been trying to figure it all out too. Just please understand that you are not alone with this kind of challenge, a lot of people "do" stuggle this way unfortunately. Look around you in this site alone, so many struggling and trying to figure things out too, this is a very busy site too. You are actually more a "part of" then you think IT. People "do" like you here you know, can relate to how you feel on different levels too.

((Hugs))

Illegal Toilet,

I'm sorry you feel that way too. I fight those same kind of feelings a a lot, and it's so difficult!

So let me ask you something that I've been thinking about myself. . .

Think for a minute about the people who have hurt and rejected you. . .however many there are. Did you do it? OK, now ask yourself this. . . "How many people would have to tell me that I'm a good and likeable person who deserves good things, before I would believe it?

What if an equal number of people rejected you and liked you? Which ones would you believe?

What if twice as many people liked you than those who rejected you? Then would you believe you were decent, likeable, and worthy of happiness and good relationships?

I'm just curious what you will say. I know what I'd say.

The perfect person has yet to be invented so we are all sub-standard - you just have to make the best of it. We are all in the same boat. I am not quite sure I believe you when you say failure/rejection are all you have known - can you not think of a few partial successes? Any success however trivial you might think it counts.

No. Look around. There are plenty of people who could be called substandard. I haven't read anything about you that makes me think substandard is a good description.

I am not so sure about this sub-standard business. Who is to say what is sub/supra standard? How do you know? Don't you often find that someone you think is not up to much, turns out, on closer acquaintance, to have good qualities you never initially guessed at?

I think you should treat people (including yourself) with amiable curiosity. You cannot change them so you might as well put up with them.

Everyone is sub-standard in different ways. Superman might look to be perfect, yet when he's out of the spotlight as Clark Kent even he has weaknesses.
