Hmm, I'm trying to understand, who exactly is getting abused? Once I know that, I can point to the helpful forum here.

Welcome to PC!! Question

My father has become over possesive with my mother. Anyone she talks with or see's, he thinks she is having an affair with them. He is very verbally abusive, he follows her, stalking her, 24 hour obsession.

They are in thier very early 70's.

My mother is very active, senior volleyball ect. She is very outgoing, wants to live. She has invited him many times, but he always refuses, 'real' men dont do the 'gym thing'.

My father is a macho man. He wants her home making his meals and picking up after him. He actually thinks I am trying to break them up. He has threatened me a few times.

This whole thing looks ridiculous in writing, but I dont know what else to do for them. I just dont want it to escalate to anything physical.

I live 4 miles from them so Its hard for me to just ignore it.

Thanks

Hi stingray and welcome to PC!

I'm so sorry to hear about your parents. It's very unsettling to see our parents aging and acting in ways that are not the norm. Has your dad been to see his doctor for a check up recently? If not, it may be time for one. He may be experiencing some problems that the doctor can diagnose and help treat.

I wish you good luck in finding help with your situation stingray. Feel free to pm me anytime if you would like to talk.

Hugssss

Wow that is a very hard situation. Posting in General is fine, and you might try Relationships and Communication. Either way, you'll find good supportive people here!
