I am a 33 year old male with slight BP and at the early onset of cholesterol. I was recently diagnosed and I am not able to cope up. I feel dow all the time and feel my health is at risk now. Though the parameters are normal now with mild medication, I feel I am deprived of my happiness.
I keep fearing that something may happen. Not able to be competitive in work. Please help out

Welcome to Psych Central, abki. I am so sorry you are suffering from unhappiness due to medical conditions. Many people find a therapist and or psych doc can help with talk therapy and med therapy.

I find Psych Central helps me find answers where before there were only questions. There is so much here. It is like a buffet of help, everyone picks what they like the best.

Besides being an active participant in helping oneself at Psych Cental, many people also help support each other by replying to other people's posts. Many people who are actively involved in Psych Central find it helps take them out of their own problems to develop empathy for others. And their problems are more manageable the more they help others.

Glad you are joining us here. Some people find the forums give them the compassion and empathy they seek. http://forums.psychcentral.com

Please feel free to private message me or any of the Community Liaisons by left clicking on the name in blue to the left of their post) for questions or just to share.

Welcome to PC

Recognizing life long health conditions it certainly tough, earlier in ones lifetime. Learning to better manage stress is important. Recognizing what brings stress to you, can help push forward.
Relearning to regain a competitive edge in the workplace sounds like a topic starter as you begin dealing with your depression. Was there a recent stumbling block?

Welcome to Psych Central (((abki))). Sorry you're struggling. It's a good thing when you get definitive diagnoses, but there is always a time period when you must deal with the emotions of realizing you have them and you go through a time of mourning. This is expected but you must not remain there. You then equip yourself with the knowledge out there to fight and beat and manage these conditions so that you can live a life as close to the norm as possible for you. Medicine has come a long way and many things we can control with just living a healthy lifestyle. Best wishes and again welcome.
