Sky,

I'm a bit touchy about Lady Macbeth's comment about staying physically fit so you can fall properly. One she doesn't know me very well, and two the timing of her comment is off.

Husband is taking care of me. Doctor prescribed pain medication, but I am simply supposed to stay off the foot, which is just not entirely possible.

Oh you dear one, please borrow a wheel chair from local legion or community thing and use it! It is much better then crutches for chores and yes, work, once you get over all of those annoying curbs with no access. It is less exhausting. So sorry. I am using a wheel chair about 5 percent of the time for sever exhaustion. Daughter drives and I ride. I am glad the exist and sad they are needed for many all of the time.

Friends,

Husband is taking care of me.

I am teaching online for the summer.

Had thought it would be nice to have a wheelchair to wheel around the house in, but I think most of the doorways are too narrow -- nevermind all the doorsills. My walker fits fine.

One of my major concerns is whether husband will have the strength to be able to keep his new job after having to take care of everything around here.

Any and all prayers will be appreciated.

I was behaving myself when this happened, so what do you mean by that?

Could you contact some agencies and see if a temporary caretaker of some kind might be do-able and helpful?

Sending good thoughts and well wishes your way.

Hi Echoes,

As much as I could use the help, I don't know if getting help in would work. I don't know if my four-footed friends would let anybody in.

We also spent money on a new queen size bed, which has been set up in the "former" dining room. I have wanted a bathroom downstairs near the bathroom for awhile. I am not supposed to put any weight on my right foot, so staying off the stairs will definitely be helpful.

Thanks, guys, for asking.

Cabin fever is setting in, and I have felt like just bursting out in tears the last two days.

I was trying to stop taking the pain pills, but yesterday and today my ankle and lower leg have been hurting me.

I got a "Looks great!" report from the doctor last Wed., when he popped my x-ray up on the light screen. I started to giggle b/c I was staring at the plate, and the 6 - 7 pins in my ankle. Oh my!!

The online class I'm teaching starts on Monday, and in my present condition and mood it's making me feel cranky. I have some great ideas for changing it around and adding some new material, but I'm feeling so tired.

I'm supposed to put no weight on my foot. It's very difficult though being here during the day, and needing some liquids and food.

Thanks everybody for your continued support. It will help to get me through. Broke my Foot

Can you rent a wheelchair to use at home? I had to use one for several months a couple years ago and it helped so much. Ask for a larger one and you can carry things in it.

Hugs,

Jan

Jan,

Our house is so small, I don't think a wheelchair would work here, but thanks for the idea.

When I mentioned to husband the other night how unhappy I was here, he said maybe I should go live in the city and he would stay here. It has been money from my side of the family and/or money from my corporate career that made our current 18 acre property possible. I was so mad. It's like he's throwing me out when I have a broken foot.

After I told the nurse over the phone today what he said, he said he regrets saying it. I told him he should.

Grrrr. Men can be real unfeeling jerks!!

Hugs,

EJ

Gosh EJ, I'm so sorry to hear about your ankle surgery. 6-7 pins? Gee, that was a serious break!

Please try to not be so hard on yourself about your mood. Pain can make anyone feel very cranky. If you need to take a pain pill, take one. You are postop and pain relief is actually going to help you heal better in the long run.
Take good care. I'm thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery!
Okie
