Hi All,

Podiatrist said I could walk on my foot again as tolerated when I saw him last Thu. I really don't think I overdid it, but it has really been hurting me the last few days. I seem to be feeling a bit down about this, after feeling so hopeful.

EJ what kind of hurt? ache? sharp? is it an epsom salts soak kinda thing? or, I have a problem with the top of my right foot where I dropped a log on it 25 years ago.... nothing really helped till I just found a chapstick-like dispenser of stuff called : HOT HEMP MUSCLE RUB Analgesic Balm and about 5 minutes after I apply it, the sharp pain goes away. I got this product at a health food store. Manufactured by: The Merry Hempsters in Eugene OR (merryhempsters.com)

Hi EJ,

Have you tried elevating it and using ice on it - and using the foot a bit less? It may not be an over-use issue, but it really hasn't been long since your surgery....it may still need some special care. I imagine the foot is still recovering from all of that.

Thinking of you and hoping the foot starts feeling better just as soon as possible!

Take care,
ErinBear

Hi Hillbunny, ErinBear and Sabrina,

The doctor said it really does take two months to heal, but it has felt so good, that I didn't expect it to hurt like this.

Makes me feel like crying. I think it's the pent up frustration of having this problem in one form or other for two years. I'll just have to readjust my thinking.

Thanks, guys, for your notes.

Hugs,

EJ

I am sorry that you are having pain..... for while I have not had surgery on my foot (not yet - knock on wood - broken it twice) I do have severe RA in my ankles & feet - and it hurts when I walk..... hence cutting down on my daily walk around the lake with my faithful dog and Mother Nature.

I will be PRAYING for YOU!!!!!! - God is Good.

EJ, I'm having terrible problems with swelling in my right calf. The more I use it, the more it swells, even though it doesn't really hurt that much anymore. Maybe you just need to take it easier on the foot than you think you do. I know how exciting it is to be able to be mobile again, but these things do take time, whether we like it or not.

Hugs,
Candy

Candy,

I think you nailed it perfectly. You're right I was excited about being able to "run around" again. Now I feel like crying. Patience has never been my long suit.

Thank you for your insights.

Hi EJ,

I had some surgery at the end of April. The doctor told me it would be two to three months until it got well, and I didn't want to believe this! However, I did the necessary things to take care of myself during the past couple of months, and it has been getting better. I can say it really has taken all of this time and it is mostly well now. It really did take that time. I wished it would get better sooner too, and I had times of frustration along the way, like you're describing. Hopefully you can give your foot some continuing extra care, and hang in there as it continues to mend from the surgery. I think the fact that it felt that good early on is a good sign.....and I imagine if you continue to be careful with it over the next couple of months as it continues to recover from the surgery, it will keep improving. That's my guess.

Wishing you all the best,
ErinBear

Dubz,

Thanks for the fire hose. Actually, the idea of having water I could dance around in, helps my mood considerably. Even though we have two ponds on our property, I still miss being near an ocean.

Hugs,

EJ
