Im just so sick of being unable to do things. I know I'm suppose to keep a positive attitude but it's so hard!

My mother is coming to town in 3 weeks ( a little less) and is staying with me. Due to fibroymyalgia (also depression) I have not been able to keep up on my house.

It always takes me all weekend to store up energy to go to work on Monday. Since today was a holiday I decided it would be great to get stuff done.

I was cleaning stuff out of my up stairs for a few hours; bagged things for salvation army; hung up summer clothes; cleaned bathroom closet - you know NORMAL stuff!!!

I totally threw myself into a fit of pain and now can barely move. I knew it was getting bad but I kept going, you know "I'm on a roll, don't stop" - "just one more thing". But it just gets me soooooo mad because it's not even fun things I'm doing, but necessary easy things and I can't do it.

I just want to be normal, have a normal life. It's bad enough this illness has me home with no social life and that's depressing enough, but now I can't even do normal household chores.

ARGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I don't know much about your illness but I am here with Lyme disease and I am learning to pace myself. If I don't the same thing happens to me. I hope you feel better.

Thanks Wisewoman - it's so hard to learn to pace yourself. I've always been an instant gratification girl, so when I decide to do something I just want to do it all!

Praying for patience So sick of it already

Hi Tranquility,

I, too, have fibro, among a host of other things. I agree that it's very hard to learn to pace yourself and almost impossible to keep your house perfectly clean.

I, too, have spent not only today, but this weekend trying to clean my apartment so it would be like it was in the time before I became sick. I've worn myself out and am sore in so many places...

One of the things that will help you are naps. Don't be afraid to just lay down and have a good, restful sleep. If you have children at home I know it won't work, but I live by myself and I can.

Also, a 4 inch thick memory foam on top of your mattress will help you a lot.

I know your frustration and I hope you feel better.

Jan

Thanks Jan So sick of it already

I do live alone (well, with my dog - Izzy). I have a king size pillowtop mattress and then I got a thick down soft mattress topper, so my bed is pretty comfy. i'm not good at napping though. If I do lay down and fall asleep then I have trouble sleeping when I go to bed at night.

Meditation does help though - I just haven't gotten myself disciplined enough to stop and do it!

How would have ever thought we'd be sitting on a computer saying it's hard to clean house?! Not that I ever liked cleaning, mind you - but now I want what I can't have even though I never wanted it before - oh brother! LOL

Hope you feel better too!

Oh, I so understand not liking housework! I have literally dug a ditch in the middle of the summer heat to get out of doing dishes! Of course I was a lot sillier then! So sick of it already

If you don't have a dishwasher, try to use throw away cups and plates Swiffer dudters are wonderful. I'm seriously thinking of getting one of those little swivel sweepers that are battery charged. It would be easier than pushing a heavy sweeper.

Do you have problems washing clothes? It wears me completely to a frazzle. Of course, I have to take my clothes to my Mom's to wash them there or use the laundry facility here in the apt. bldg.

I hope you get some rest.

Hugs,

Jan

oh my, your statement about being an instant gratification girl hit me. I am a worker. I dont understand why hubby keeps projects going forever. I want it done when I want it done. I am in pain from days of over=doing. Ouch.

We have to learn to pace ourselves. It is very challenging, but we must. And we and others must learn to accept our homes which may be less than magazine perfect.

Please don't be so hard on yourself.

Thanks All!

Jan - Good ideas. I do use paper plates/bowls all the time I think I eat off dishes twice a year. I do use real silverware though cause I don't like the plastic.

Um...I have a swiffer duster - but I think it's hiding behind the dust balls LOL. I also have a Swiffer wetjet for the kitchen floor but that only comes out once in a while too, but it is easier than a mop.

Ugh - laundry gets me as well. I live in an up and down duplex and the washer and dryer are in the basement. So it's down two flights to load and up to flights to deliver. But it is better than having to haul it out to the car to go to a laundry mat. My dream is to have a stacking washer and dryer upstairs near the bathroom.

Wisewoman you're too much!
