SeptMorn, I honestly can remember. Seems like it was something like "take two asprin and call me in the morning" but it was a long time ago. I think my son was a little older than your grandson.

You know being a grand mother is one of the best jobs in the world. Being the grand-mother-in-law (you know what I mean) can be very frustrating. It's kind of like being the 3rd man on a two-man bobsled.

I hope you are able to find more help and information.

When my son was in grade school "Fifth Disease" was very common in our neck of the woods..

fever, flushed checks, sore throat, rash, feeling crummy...

seems like it lasted about 2 weeks... though the whole 2 weeks weren't miserable...

Wow - I didn't know there was a human version of parvo.

Are the doggies being treated as well?

How is the little one doing now?

Not the same strain of parvo, Sabrina. WHEEEEW!! Question! Even if the dogs did have parvo, which they don't, it wouldn't be the same thing.

Haven't heard how he's doing this morning. I'll let you know if I hear anything. With them, the saying, "no news is good news" is very true.

Oh yes, no news is good news!

I am intrigued as to how humans "catch" parvo when animals are clear? But then again you did say it isn't the same thing ... so no answer required!

Hope the little chap is feeling a bit better!

Yup they do still get the measles because there are still parents out there that either don't believe for religios reasons and whatever, or because the child has other health problems where getting the measles immunization would cause major health problems (allegic to serum base ect..). my friends children just got the measles even though they were imunized against it. the physician said the imunization does not always prevent it but will make the getting them less severe in some children and adults.

I heard on the news in one state they are now having measles epidemics because some one was traveling while unknowingly contagious and when he figured it out went to the ER and of course everyone in that ER was then exposed. so now the news is saying DONT go to the ER for things like measles first. To FIRST call ahead if you think you have something anything contaagious, so that they can make arrangements so that no one else gets exposed to you.

Scarey. but kind of glad these type of precautions are starting to be put in place at ER's with the threat of terrorism and Biowarfar crap being in the news and stuff these days.
