I have at least one, and sometimes two Drs appointments every day this week. Today I had an emergency dental appt., one emergency Dr's appt. and one regular Dr's appt.

By the time I got to the last of the appointments I was hot and tired. I was sitting there in the waiting room thinking about how I needed a couple bags of IVs to help my dehydration and what a drag it is to be dehydrated in 98 degree weather.

Then a youngish looking woman walked back into the waiting room from seeing the Dr. Her husband said, "That didn't take long." She looked at him and said, "Well, it doesn't take long to be told you have to have surgery."

Needing a couple bags of IV's to rehydrate suddenly seemed like no problem at all.

((((( Jan )))))

I had a similar experience recently. I went to my hem/onc and they took me in to do the usual blood pressure, weight, blood draw etc.

Anyway, it was busy that day so they took me into the chemo room to draw my blood and wait.

I sat in between to women who were hooked up having their IV chemo treatments and I thanked my lucky stars that I only have to take the chemo orally. Counting My Blessings

Just finished watching a movie called The Secret.
It hypothesizes that if you focus only on the good things in your life, and the things you really want to acheive, they actually will happen, according to the laws of attraction.
Too much to go into here, but the principal is the same....count your blessings and be happy for what you have and more good will come along.

I've heard of The Secret gtrplayer, but never really took the time to find out what it was about, so thanks for sharing that.

It's hard sometimes for all of us who struggle with just making it through the day.

So, when one of these moments comes along, it really does hel me put things into perspective.

Maybe we can keep this thread going and when things get tough, we can come back here to remind us that things could always be worse, even when you think they couldn't. Counting My Blessings

(((((((( Friends )))))))))

Thank you for all your replies.

I received my IV hydration today. They couldn't fit me into the Emergency Room, so I was sent to something called the "Ambulatory Care" Department. To my shock, I was put in with the chemotherapy patients.

I was asked to sit in a recliner, offered a pillow, blankets and something to drink. Then a lady hooked me up and told me if I needed anything at all, just to let her know.

I sat there for hours watching people who were so ill patiently sitting in recliners getting their chemo. The lady who sat next to me had already had cancer and chemo, only to need a special kind of chemo for arthritis.

As salt water dripped into my veins I watched the most cheerful, kind and loving nurses work with a 90 something year old lady who hit them, kicked them and spat upon them because she could not understand where she was or what they were doing.

I hadn't eaten breakfast and to my utter shock the receptionist came and took orders for lunch from everyone. I explained that I had money in my purse, and she looked and me and said, "Honey, did you really think we were going to let you go hungry?"

One of the elderly ladies cried because her chemo treatment would be done and she would be gone by the time lunch came. She got to stay and eat with her friends.

I have no words to express how blessed I am. I was reminded of it yesterday and I was shown it explicitly today. I also know if my biopsies would by some chance turn out postive, exactly where I want to go for my chemo.

Yes, we can. Even if I'm not taking chemo, I can be there with you in spirit.

Hugs,

Jan

Counting My Blessings

Isn't it a wondrous thing that when we think we have gotten to the end of our rope, a message comes through in the most amazing way to say "You are ok, things could be worse. Count your blessings!"

Thank you so much for sharing these things with us. We so need to hear them and re-evaluate where we are and what we are doing. We all need a little compassion for others to open our hearts and eyes!

Love to you all!

Hugsssss
