I'm guessing x-rays show wisdom teeth ok?

When I was little I had a fly flying around me...it ended up in my ear...extremely painful...easy to remove by the way...

Can't think of anything else other then some kind of trauma to his jaw or teeth...

Let us know what you find...

Know when my youngest was about the age of you son, we found he had TMJ (Temporomandibular joint). Had to take him to an orthodontist for treatment.

katherine get the clove oil, it will save you both the stress, your local shop might even have it, if not the pharmacy is best option

from someone who pulls there own teeth, ie me, get the clove oil, rub it on the affected area, sit back, count to 10, pain gone, full stop, end, finito, (and yes that is with the teeth still in situ)

Does he recall being hit in the jaw or head lately? His TMJ might have been knocked about, and having a jaw off kilter will definitely give pain! Even if he bit into something hard, it could set it off. Try ice on the TMJs (either side, jaw joints) Ginger helps with pain too, but if he has pain meds... sigh try the ice, if he can't stand the ice, try heat.

katherine, if your son still is hurting in the morning, go to the chemist and ask for clove oil, ask them what it does for dental pain, its a short term fix granted, but it more than covers the time needed by your son for pain relief without drugs before his appointment, the side effects are from plolonged use, month or more daily, receeding gums, and more sensative teeth, in the short run that your son will be using it, there are no side effects, only instant dental pain relief, if nothing else, when you go to the chemist tommorrow ask there opinion on short term use of clove oil for dental pain, then decide

holding heat to the jaw near ear would help if it is TMJ.. when I have TMJ, I can't feel "where" the pain really is and it can be excurciating.

Also, I've had several teeth root die, and doesn't show on x-ray and it is very painful - I usually have to have root canal.

Ear aches, my son had these, so I took him to med center and they were actually able to put a numbing agent in his ear while the antibodic took affect.

Wisdom teeth, I had these out at 33... but until I did the pain was unbearable...

I am so sorry... when our children hurt... we hurt 10 times more...

freewill, i have found that if you are prepared to lose the tooth, root canal is not nessasary, so why bother? why you holding on so tight?

mellors....

Love my teeth... oh yes I dooooo... root canels.... crowns... fixing cavities after buliema... do not want to be a toothless...
any ideas

Both my parents lost ALL their teeth in one swell shoop.... back in the time before good denistry...

I still have pictures in my mind of my parents taking out their dentures and leaving them.. well where ever..

Then there are their "horror" stories of how each and every tooth was pulled "back in their day".. of horses only transportation..

so holding on tight I will to my teeth, I will.. I may be "hairless, and bald" but teeth I will have.. any ideas

Sorry to highjack thread..

And again sooo sorry for your son...

son visted the dentist today the only thing they could put the pain down to is he has another tooth trying to push up between his teeth, they are going to leave it alone and hope it will settle, as the teeth around it are ok
