As soon as I heard of Tammy Faye Messners passing, I posted a link here, another mental health forum I visit occasionally (pc is my bestest home) and in the Religion/Sprituality forum of Yahoo Answers.

My goodness, within 3 minutes of posting the informational link on Yahoo, there was 26 responses. I was pretty excited, until I looked at the answers. People are so downright unforgiving and cruel. I just don't like it. I deleted the post.....

I consider forgiveness one of my better attributes. Don't you think thats a good thing?

Arent we all human? Arent we all human? Arent we all human?

The responders in Yahoo Answers are almost uniformly cruel, in my experience. I hope people were better to you here.

The answer is YES - and that is probably why you got the replies you did about Tammy..... for HUMANS often find it hard to forgive others, yet they want to be forgiven. (sorry) Arent we all human?

I saw some posts about Tammy Faye that were all nice (at least those I skimmed). I watched the season of The Surreal Life that she was on (along with Ron Jeremy, which is why I watched it--they got along so well!), and was surprised at how nice she seemed. As someone commented wherever I read it, she was a character (it was a compliment; as I said, there were no bad comments that I saw). I'll add, characters are great, because they're the ones you remember.

Forgiveness is an excellent quality imo!

People react/respond to death in various ways. Even those who are Christians might not realize their responses are uncalled for (to the death of Tammy.)

There's no reason to denegrate someone who has passed and has no more affect upon the world.

She had many struggles; the only difference is the media showed hers to the whole world. Who can stand up to that?

Regarding taking down the post, have you further thought about that? Of course, you've forgiven all those people who posted mean-spirited things, but why deny the others of reading what you posted about Tammy? Just because they haven't forgiven her for any of her poor choices doesn't mean they don't have the 'right' to show their own ignorances. Arent we all human?

You know Christ told the disciples, when they came to him about how they prevented someone who was not a disciple from preaching, that to let them be, that He would sift the wheat from the chaff and that if any good comes from one of them, that would counter the negative they gave.

I believe God used the Bakers in spite of themselves. Just like He uses me. Arent we all human?

I third Sabau2 on the Tammy Faye situation! But you see forgiveness is a tricky thing sometimes. You can carry forgiveness in your heart and hand it out freely to many. Yet still have a hard time forgiving some people for a certain thing or things that they have done to you. That may have really impacted your life in a negative way,or possibly ruined it completely in your viewpoint! But there are many terrible people that just can't forgive anything that anyone does, yet it is true that as soon as they slip up, they expect to be forgiven themselves like one of the others said!

I disagree that we should always forgive, and more to the point, that there's no reason to denigrate someone dead. In general, there's no point in talking about such a person; however, there are people who have to be brought up to discuss history and psychology.

And, if someone you knew who's passed wasn't a good person, you can't be expected to say nice things about him/her. As Bette Davis once said, "Just because someone's dead, doesn't make them nice." Love Bette!
