Not many of you know even one aspect of things that have tried my "being" lately, or even this year. I haven't shared hardly anything because there just seems like someone else here is more needy and I didn't want to take any focus away from them. I also didn't want to add to PC's level of stress for those more tender members. Forget the trip? I hope my level of caring here hasn't been diminished by my current personal life, and that no one noticed any difference from my posts. Forget the trip?

I'm not sure but I think the last "straw" regarding my trip has landed on the camel. I won't go into details, but it concerns the structure of my house, literally. I'm not sure I can arrange repairs, contract, payment etc before I would leave for my trip... so I may not be able to go. Forget the trip?

I was still going to be on PC, as I was taking my notebook, but I'm posting here so that IF I'm not on, then I probably didn't go and I'm trying to manage this latest "crisis." Don't worry about me, I'll get through this one too.

BUT all prayers are accepted!!! Forget the trip? God knows everything...so He surely knows what has been happening here. Forget the trip?

TTYL Forget the trip?

Well I hope you get to go on your trip still, very stressful having to arrange so much.

I'm not going to say don't worry, because I know that you will. Please know that I'm thinking of you.

Awwww (((((((((((((((((((( _Sky )))))))))))))))))))))))))

How disappointing to you. Is there someone you trust that can handle the home repairs for you while you are away? I hate to see you not go as I know you were so looking forward to it! Forget the trip?

Then again, you know the saying..."things happen for a reason"........might be worth pondering over??

I hope you will be able to go...I'll keep my fingers crossed and remember you in my prayers

"it concerns the structure of my house, literally. I'm not sure I can arrange repairs, contract, payment..."

Not sure how much time you have vs leaving on the trip...

Not sure if there is anything we might be able to do to help you...just wanted to let you know that I work with a lot of venders/contractors...a lot...PM me if you have any questions.

I work in property management...done apartments and commerical office buildings (ranging from over 500 apartment units across my state to 500,000 sq ft of office space including a 25 story building). In property management we are nothing without our vendor and contractor partners.

Think that is a good question.....is it something that can wait.....if it has been going on this long......whats a few more weeks so you can relax before starting that huge of project.

I know about the house thing.....that is exactly what I am doing right now here in Kentucky & it is a huge....huge....huge job. I think rest & relaxation is a good thing & while you are relaxing, you can do a little thinking about what your plans need to be without stressing over them.

Sometimes I need to do the design....(thinking about it) for awhile....then when I tackle the job, it seems to come together much better.

I have found out that even this house that is only 15 years old, is like a can of worms. I strip off the wall paper & find they didn't prep the walls before that & I pull off the drywall.....whole room had to be drywalled (mudded) before it could even be painted.

Pulled up the carpet for it to be replaced.....found water damage on the plywood flooring.....had to be fixed before the carpet could be layed.

When the carpenter came in to help out with the painting (our crunch to get it done a bit quicker, he noticed the ceiling in the bonus room had cracks...looking farther, noticed that the whole ceiling was sagging about 3 inches.....had to put a 4x4 support in to push it back up (I had them put in a nice 4x4 spindle, so it looks beautiful....not just functional.

When they pulled off the interior doors to the dining room (I am putting in natural wood doors throughout the house), they found that the doorways weren't designed for doors & they would have looked pieced in the natural wood.....so I had them make the doorways into arches.

When we were painting, I wanted to put some fresh black paint on the fireplace insert.....found out it wasn't connected to the chimney.....decided not to spend the $$$$$$$ to have it connected (it was a huge amount) so I had them pull it out.....found out the damper had been taken out & needed it all fixed so I could restore it back to a real fireplace.....then there wasn't a cap/spark arrester on the top, so had to have that added too.

Oh yes, the leak in the front room....wasn't from the flashing on the porch roof....it was leaking through the rotten wood on the upstairs windows......I knew the windows needed to be replaced, but I have to have all the frames & possibly rotten wood in the walls taken out & the windows put in & built back up to seal back to the brick house.

And of course, the Air conditioner went out.....had to find a good company quick....they suggested it might just be a dirty filted that caused it to freeze up.....not so lucky.....it was filthy from all the sanding for the painting that is being done, but the motor went out. We couldn't work around the house without the a/c, so had to get it fixed quick.....no time for delays.

I am acting as my own contractor for the house & my barn area in a new area where I don't know anyone.......I am finding the best people to do the job (if you have read my "attitude" post you will see how it is easier here). I have talked to many people & have found a great team to come together & do it all.....even areas of putting a farm together that I never knew anything about like bushhogging & bull dozing.....& barn building.

I know what a huge overwhelming job it is.....but really after a wonderful relaxing trip.....enjoy, sit back, relax, & know that you can come back & then pull it all together much better with a relaxed mind than a stressed one. Besides, if it were me, if I didn't take the trip, I would be thinking about the trip that I was missing on top of the problems I was having with the house....& that makes the task even harder.

It will all work out,
Debbie

Sky, don't cancel the trip. Unless, of course, you think the house is going to fall down in your absence!

Did your box ever arrive in NM? I think if it did, then you have to go!

Besides, I'm looking forward to seeing a good picture of you as your avatar. Forget the trip?

Seriously, though, I don't think I'd give up on this one unless you absolutely have to. I'm sure that God does watch over us. I'd bet my bile duct that he watches over you a lot better than most! I will look heavenward on your behalf.
Take good care,
Okie

Hi Sky Haven't been around and guessing something has happened to your house. GO on the trip. If its not one thing its something else with houses. Special trips don't come around that often. I agree with going and getting a chance to think and plan while relaxed. You will be better able to cope. Love to you Froggie

Thanks all! It's beautiful out here. I've put some photos into the gallery...more coming. Let me know if there's a special request to see something.

Being Wednesday, it's a day off from courses. I'm stuck here lol if being in such a beautiful place could be consider a "stuck" as there is no accessible vehicle. I had many offers to take me into town, but I can't walk around and wait and such like them, so I didn't go. I have had many offers to take me to the trading post, but no one found me yet to take me. I need to get there today because they do branding of your leather goods tomorrow night... and I want a new leather belt for the uniform anyway. I wanted a journal (book) to keep special record... getting late in the week for that.

It's coolllllll at night! In the 50s at night, and hot today but with a cool breeze in the shade... but probably not more than 80. (I'll have to check Forget the trip? )

The food is great! Always hot entrees to choose from, but a continual fresh salad bar, bread/toast area and plenty to drink. They say drink 8 glasses a day due to the low humidity, altitude. That means for me a bottle of water each hour. Restroom breaks are not very frequent even at that, though, obviously the body needs it.

The middle of the night nature calls are interesting. Never quite sure what I will find outside my tent on the way to the restroom/shower house. There is an apple tree on the path, and the deer and rabbits and maybe mini-bears? eat them at night. I always have to wait a second upon exiting the tent, to adjust to the moonlight (it's a full moon!) and decide on the size of the animal... because there are Elk here too. The deer mosey through camp in morning and evening. They know they are safe here on the over 100k acres of the Philmont Scout Ranch.

I have truly taken a vacation away from the problems at home. Of course I still deal with my chronic pain. Everyone here is most helpful and friendly (parts of the Scout law Forget the trip? ) and most every area right here at the training center is accessible by my chair...though not all have concrete sidewalking.

Today I begin to manage for return trip home. If I have to decide about a task or trip now, it's not whether it will affect the conference week, but how will it affect my travel home. If negatively, I can't do it. I'm cutting it close when it comes to pain and fatigue and down right being able or not to doing something. Forget the trip?

Hi all! I'm on my way home...in Colorado as I post. I found a foot path to the trading post, and boogied in my chair. There was one area where the path hit a 30 degree angle off a large oak tree...scary stuff for me. Had to come back that way too Forget the trip?

I always turn the chair off when I stop. But somehow it was on while I tried to organize my tent space, and I leaned on the toggle and it sent me into the metal bed frame at an angle, catching one of my legs and smashing it between the metal chair and bed rail... in reaction (didn't I tell this? I'm too fatigued to read.) I hit the toggle full giving full power to the chair, and ended up moving the bed across the concrete floor, with my leg in between. I refused to have it xrayed (I know, not good management, but any fracture creates a statistic in the very area I help in: risk management!) Forget the trip? The swelling is down greatly and it's beginning to change colors. Forget the trip? I'll let my PT check it out on Wednesday.

The people training my dog called mid week... announcing they are going on vacation. Forget the trip? So I have to get down there early tomorrow morning to pick up Caleb. I hadn't planned to do that until Tuesday night, when I hoped to have a bit more energy from the trip. Oh well?!

I hope it will be good to be home. I haven't heard a thing about the house from the contractor. That could be good news?
