I was supposed to go to a day long teacher continuing education workshop today and tomorrow, but with this 100 degree heat, I didn't want my two dogs to be out in it all day...8 to 10 hours! I can make up the C.E. later in other meetings, and I knew they would suffer, even with ample water, which would have gotten hot.

Thanks, Skittles, for confirming my choice to stay home...I felt a bit lazy and guilty for not going to the workshops, but there is no way these two furry dogs would have been well in the heat!

I agree with your choice also.....I know for me, my doggies are the most important thing when making my choices.

This heat is beyond anything I have experienced in the past (& that is a long time at my age). I know Kentucky has been so hot & dry (in the middle of a draught). The doggie I had with me wouldn't stay home alone & if I tried, he would destroy anything he could get to. Even when I put him in his crate when I walked down into my woods, he got even with me by pooping all over his crate & down into my AC floor vent (didn't realize his crate was that close to it). He got so upset that even when I took him out & we drove over to look at a barn that the person had built, he dumped all over the back seat of the car.....(the goopy poop no less). After that, I had to take him with me everywhere I went. Luckily, Lowe's & other stores were very dog friendly there, only couldn't take him into the Wal-marts that were the superstores with the food. Unfortunately, it was hard to go to church....couldn't leave him in the car.....way to hot....& didn't think he would be very appreciated in church (even if he doesn't bark at all). The only time I could go to church was on cloudy days & it seemed that Sundays were never cloudy. I am sure that God understood my thinking.

It is important to think about our babies & make decisions based on that,
Debbie

I am guessing it is even hotter in KY than it is here in WV!
Today seems even hotter than yesterday, and I have just let my dogs out for short periods. They seem to really appreciate the AC, and the cats are inside also!

My dog is really hating this weather. He normally loves to be out, but lately he will only go out to go potty and then he is right back inside. He hides when I pull out his leash to bring him on a walk. He just doesn't want to go. He has such thick fur I guess I can't blame him.

We are supposed to get a break from the heat this weekend. I sure hope so!

My two dogs are just lying on the cool floor most of the time. They do go outside periodically to go potty, but I let them right back in. The golden pup likes the AC vents!
