some ppl might not agree with this but after loosing our house we thought that there might be some money left over to help clear some of the debts, but we were wrong, we were left with a short full of £4.000, so with this debt and some of the others we sought advice and have decided the best thing to do is go bankruptm we have someone helping us to do this, and he has been brilliant he came today to fill out my forms all i might have to pay is £150 for court costs
i have debts of up to £24.000 but some of these debts are joint ones hubby will be going bankrupt to the process will take about a mth, i have an appointment on 10th august at court

Good luck. I've been through it as well. The fresh start is worth the humiliation (at least it was to me). (Of course, then I went and got critically sick, couldn't work for months, and it started all over again -- try hard not to do that part.

So Sorry you have to do this, but if money is not there, what
can you do. I do not pass judgement on you or anyone else,because it could happen to anyone at anytime. I hope things get better for you.

I can understand completely.
We are just about under the same circumstances. I'm sorry you and trm are going through such tough times right now. Hopefully things will get better for your family very soon. |

Sometimes there just isn't any other way out......& it doesn't take much to get into that situation. It is important to do what is necessary to fix the situation & to not get into the situation again....if at all possible.

I have been thru this as well (after our daughter died) - and it saved our family from despair and starvation...... some times one has to what they can for all concerned.

I went through the same thing. I was in a relationship where the other person ended up on disability with no income so we could no longer keep up on the credit card debt. I know it feels humiliating (actually when I went to court the person who I sat in front of (it's not a judge) was someone I grew up with - ughh!) - but if you have no other choice then it's what you need to do. tomorrow is the day we go to court so i can become bankrupt,
we got to sit in a room while the bankrupcy ppl go through our paperwork and then we will get asked to go for a coffee while this paperwork is taken to a judge, the judge decides the outcome, then we have to wait for a phone call from the reciever he wil make an appointment to come and see us

hi. dont be to nervous about your day with bankrupsty(not sure on spelling) myself and husband went through this in june of 2007. there will be some talking with the people representing you and a judge. he or she will make a desicion on what to do. in our case we got a conditional discharge and we have to pay $800.00 at income tax time. and the good thing is you dont owe anone anything. i hope this kind of helps you relax everything will be fine..please let me know what goes on.

It is bitter sweet...I discharged an incredible amount of college spending sprees about 10 years ago...

all done and dealt with just got to go to deal with the official receiver, i was lucky she phoned early this afternoon took some details and is phoning back on monday
