On this thread, we're talking regret. Not guilt (though those can go hand in hand), they're different. You can feel and hold guilt that doesn't belong to you, but you can't carry someone else's regret (at least not by definition). I also want this to be as judgement free of a thread as humanly possible (I don't feel I have to say that because you all are pretty good about this, but I'm just putting it out there).

I'll start it off: I regret allowing myself to turn into the things I hated. I regret hurting people (physically), whether or not it was justified. I regret being a person who turns to liquor to feel better and I regret allowing myself to get this bad before deciding to get some help.

Your turn.

I regret the times I have been "too chicken" to be as direct with the important people in my life as I needed to be. If I had talked more about my anger and fear, my thinking would not have become as distorted.

I regret not getting help earlier but all things happen in their own time I guess. I regret not learning to stand up for myself and be assertive until it was too late to fix some things. I regrets not finishing college but it's not too late. I regrets being a stressed mom when my kids were younger and that stress keeping me from appreciating and being grateful for each and every second word h my kids when they heywere younger. I regrets not taking as many photos as I should have of my loved ones.

I regret spending money when I had it. I regret manic choices that distanced me from my children.

And yes, there is a difference I believe btween 'guilt' and 'regret'. I feel guilty that I made up an excuse not to go to support group.

I regret I didn't take more photos of my kids. I regret ditching my education. I regret spending the amount of money I have on drugs.

I wish I could remember what I regret, I regret everything I did to erase myself.

Hello and happy Thanksgiving So! and everyone.

I regret?? Well, I regret not learning at an early age that "Life is regrets".
I let sorrow, misfortune, guilty attitudes and regret become too much of my life for too long.
I am thankful that I learned regrets are inevitable and mistakes are lessons disguised my sorrow.
