Hi!
I'm losing my first to college and being a single parent makes that infinately hard. I want to be supportive, excited and motivational so he starts on the right foot but instead I keep swaying to the miserable, lonely, weepy and depressed. My son is a smart kid and I think he'll do great at university, he's excited but also scared - pretty normal. We have kind of been our own support team, when he's down I support him and vice versa. But the thought of not having him close enough to hug is just about killing me. Any advice on how to stem the water works? empty nest

Believe or nat you will get use to it. My daughter started last year, I sent her with a cell phone she called me on her own at least 3xs a day.
Its like when they first start school. You will cry , but it gets better. And to know they are out in the world doing for them selves , Be proud.
Believe me he will call home and still need you. empty nest

Thanks! I know he'll do great and I am extremely proud of him. He has a cell phone, plus email and I'm not sure who'll call more me or him. I guess it's just one of those things you go through with parenting.
Have a great day! empty nest

I know, but no matter how much I tell myself that it doesn't seem to make it any easier!
Thanks though.
