the back of my office building looks out on US 36, the main highway between denver and boulder. yesterday morning my coworker started yelling that there was a guy trying to kill himself on the highway. we looked out the window and there was this young guy, 20's maybe, walking along the highway and stepping out in front of every truck that came along. not cars, mind you, he kept walking along the shoulder and looking behind him, and every time a truck came along he would step in front of it trying to get hit. he stepped right in front of a pepsi truck and the driver had to slam on his brakes, very lucky there wasn't someone right behind him. we called the police and they showed up a few minutes later, but the guy had kept walking south so he was out of our sightline..... still have no idea if he got hit or not. i tried to find out online but didn't see anything. but god, that was so scary! i was sure he was going to get run over right in front of us. and the manager of our building actually said, "i hope he got hit, idiot could have caused a major accident, we need to thin the herd anyway". i mean, i realize he could have caused an accident but that seemed awful harsh to me....there must be a reason the kid felt the need to step into traffic. anyway i'm thinking of calling the police station to see if they'll tell me if he's ok. either way it was a very scary thing to see and i hope he is ok.

Oh dear, what a horrible thing to have to watch and feel kind of helpless in. I pray he was found and is receiving the care he needs now. I hope you are ok too.....((((((((((((((((((bellaviolet))))))))))))))))

Hope the young person was picked up & will get the help he needs. It is sad when people feel they have to go that far & feel that hopeless. It is sad if they end up getting involved in the justice system....then they never get the help they need either. It is like a revolving door.

It is sad when we see things & report them & never find out the outcome. Just pray that he is getting the help he needs.

thanks everyone for the prayers......... i still don't know what happened. there wasn't anything in the local papers so i'm hoping that means he didnt get hit or anything, no news is good news, right? but i also hope he got some help, and not just thrown in jail for causing a disturbance or something. i called the police station but they wouldnt tell me anything scary incident on the highway

i'm still thinking about him and hoping he's ok..... will update if i hear anything......

p.s. that really bothered me what my building manager said..... he has a teenaged son and i imagine he might feel different about the situation had it been his kid out there on the highway.....
