I'm amazed that you are doing this...baby squirrels! Please keep us updated on their progress. They will surely bond to you and so I'm curious as to how they'll acclimate into the wild!

Well, How I found them is a story in its self and I am so grateful that they survived the fall....

Yesterday while I was getting into my car I hear this thump and when I looked up and there was this little critter that had fell from a nest in the tree - he hit the roof of the car and then I heard a second thump and there was a second critter that hit the trunk of the car and feel to the ground - I personally was in shock for I thought they were dead after the hard hits they took from the fall.

But - all is well this morning and they are warm and eating puppy replacement milk from a syringe.

I found a Squirrel Board online and they are helping me through this, plus you know me - I always to my research, so I think all will work out for them in the long run.

IF they are ever released to the wild will depend on how much they bond to us (humans) vrs. How well they can (will) fend for themselves when the day comes after they are at lest 4 months old.
Yet no matter what I will have had a tremendous life experience that I will remember for ever - and I will have PICS & Video to prove it. Found Baby Squirrel(s)

I love their little cries....... it takes your heart away and the female will usually will cry for me to come back after I have feed her and spent some time touching & stimulating her. *to cute*

* * * * * * *

My family are calling me the "Animal Woman" - due to all the different kinds of pets I have and how animals always seem to find me..... even if they have to fall from heaven as my husband put it with the squirrels.

Never know - maybe one day I will open my own animal rehab..... once my last child (a senior this year) is off to college next school year - August 2008. Found Baby Squirrel(s)

YES!! You should sooo do that. Are you gonna keep the squirrels then? Is it possible to keep them as pets? You'd have to have a pretty big aquarium or cage, right?

I pet sitted a chinchilla once. Maybe you could keep the squirrels just like people keep chincillas? Wow!!!!! What a story!!! I'm so glad they survived! They must have been sleeping and relaxed when they fell.

I feed the birds behing my apartment. There was this older gentlement two doors down and he always fed the birds, and would even put carrots and stuff out for bunnies. Well, his family had to put him in an adult care home, and one his neiced stopped me going to my car, and asked me if I would mind feeding the birds from behind my place, that her uncle had a big unopened bag of seed. I said of course! and went through that bag, and then got another bag....I have a feeling I'll be feeding those birds from now on. Found Baby Squirrel(s) Squirrels and bunnies come for the seed too, and I get quail family coming for the seed. It is SUCH joy!!!

I've never ever rescued an animal like you have though, never been given the opportunity. Found Baby Squirrel(s)

Keep us updated!! And keep takin pics!

My first thoughts are to release them when they are between 4 to 6 months of age (suggested by wild life rehab) - bu then again we will really have to see how attach they get verses if they can survive in the wild.... time will tell.

I do not fore see a problem with keeping them if we have too.... for I have ready have 3 Sugar Gliders and they are doing great.

I checked the rules for my state on wild life and it is LEGAL for me to keep them if I desire to do so, but some states do not allow you to keep wild life as pets.

Rhap,

No, I don't own sugar gliders - at the moment I'm full up with three cats in an apartment! But when I have some more space I would certainly love to.

Oh YES......... I hold them all the time and they crawl over me.
I think PETS are the way to go when one is depressed, for they calm the inner beast that haunt us.

I have a tent that I get in and spend time with them outside of their house - plus they crawl around on the couch and love set.... when we move and buy a bigger house I get a room all to my own for my Sugar Gliders and now Squirrel's (if they stay). Found Baby Squirrel(s)

Just wondering what happened to Mom squirrel? Is she alive & looking for her babies?

They sure are cute & glad you are there to care for them. Hope they continue to do well.

I am not sure...... I tried looking for her and waited for her to come and take her babies back - but nothing.

Some of the rehab people told me that she will go on her way if she does not find them with in the first day..... I pray this is the reason she is no longer around.

I pray also that is the reason she isn't around. They are so special & I enjoy watching & feeding them. Nature is very interesting in how they react to things like loosing their babies. Sometimes I think humans could take lessons from nature, but then we would look to be so cold & uncaring.
